Greetings all,

As part of a "we swear it's just hypothetical!" Firefly live-action RPG, I'm creating a web page of costuming tips for potential players.

Now, I can find lots of handy costuming URLs focusing on Wild West, military surplus and Victorian-era clothing - they're all over the place - but I would love some help regarding useful links (for sewers and non-sewers) regarding the Asian costume influences on the show. I know that the costuming takes its inspiration from all over, but I thought if I focused on Chinese, Japanese and (maybe) Filipino traditional and folk clothing, that would give a person enough to go on. I'm not building an in-depth research project, more of a general overview with suggestions for various outfits.

Point is, if any of y'all have found useful links in your own larp misadventures and are willing to share them, I'd be v. appreciative.

Or you can share your general suggestions here, too. Credit will be given to contributors in the final document - and I'll post the URL here when it goes online, probably in a couple of days.

I already have a lot of costume advice on my LARP advice page ( http://www.skaro.com/larpdex.html - blatant plug!) so I don't need to rehash the very, very basics for people - I'll just point 'em to the apt article that I've already written.

Anyways, links, general advice, horror stories, they'd all be appreciated as I plough through the task of creating this resource.

Thanks!
- Johanna

PS, if you're interested, the LARP will be held somewhere in the San Francisco Bay Area, but I doubt the first game will be any time before September, as the team is only just getting off the ground right now and convention season is eating our collective heads as it is!

In true ironic fashion, I found that link about ten minutes AFTER I posted this thread.

'tis a very good resource, but I'm a glutton for goodness, so if there are yet more urls out there, I'm a-looking!

:-D

Cheers,
- Johanna
