Got this in an email:

Quote:

First of all, the first two screenings sold out pretty damn quickly.
Over
40,000 people tried to secure tickets online.

EIFF say:

"After the extraordinary demand for the World Premiere and debut
feature
from director (and Buffy creator) Joss Whedon?s new film Serenity,
Edinburgh International Film Festival and distributor UIP reacted
immediately today by arranging two more screenings.

Keen not to disappoint the fans EIFF Artistic Director Shane Danielsen
said: “When we get such a clear signal from the fans that they’re so
passionate about a particular film, we’re more than happy, wherever we
can, to make additional screenings possible.”

The first new screening will be a matinee on Wednesday 23rd August .
The
second screening will be part of the Festival’s Best of the Fest
line-up
on Sunday 28th August.

I started the OB topic. They were definitely supposed to be airing the trailer, but simple didn't bother. Sigh - sorry all.

Will chase on Monday. I sat through TRL, too - mind numbing experience.

It's quite hard to think what feature merited screen time... I was going to say "more than the Serenity trailer" but frankly I think the phrase applies to the whole show.

Jeez minor heartattack - how did i miss this thread on friday! although -i'm obviously quite glad it wasn't shown now.

Actually, no i'm not, someone could have at least described it! what's happening with this blasted trailer!!

oh, and can we kick furniture instead of pets please, i know it hurts more, but is also more fulfilling, I assure you.

Good thing about the extra screenings which i still can't go to cos i can't get to edinburgh! - i'm glad the uk browncoats were just as eager as the american ones to snap up all the screenings.

-now if they'd just show the trailer on all channels in every add break, put screenings up in every city in this green (although a bit brown now) and pleasant land, and if soemone would see fit to get me that snazzy new poster with Riv on it, I'd be happy!

Well, not exactly. I do have a domain which I use for business e-mails and the occasional sharing of files for people who don't like hunking big attachments in their e-mails. The last thing I used it for was to send episodes of A Bit of Fry & Laurie to an American who wanted to see it.

Actually, I think the show might be up your street twg. It stars Stephen Fry, he who reads the Harry Potter books among other claims to fame and Hugh Laurie, of Sense and Sensibility plus he's now starring in House (albeit with an American accent). It's a sketch show with lots of intelligent and literate sketches (plus many stupidly fun ones too).

Sample quote:

Stephen: I think animal testing is a terrible idea. They get all nervous and give silly answers.

As you might have guessed, it's another show I pimp as regularly as I do Firefly.

I am acquainted with the show. I like it. Not seen much of it, but what I have I have thoroughly enjoyed.
