24 is the only show that I would dare say is more edgy and riveting than FIREFLY. I honestly think Jack Bauer would kick Mal's ass and not even break a sweat.
Cant believe no one else has responded to this slurr!! Here goes: Jack Bauer is a dank tuft of rectal pubic hair compared to Mal!
Seems alot of you are raving about Lost. Lost, to me is not bad but very, very slow. 26 episodes to get into that damn hatch now we must wait for season 2 to go down the ladder...
Oh, and in answer to the original post "Space, Above and Beyond" is a good sci fi fix. If its comedy you want then try an Aussie show no one here has probably heard of but is one of my favourites called "The complete adventures of Lano and Woodley".

Nobody mentioned Reno 911. It's like cops, but it's comedy.
*thinks* There's always The Adventures of Pete And Pete...even though the 1st season only has 8 eps lol.
Oh oh! Anything under Kevin Smith...mainly his Jersey Saga (Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy) if you wish.

[blockquote]Hugh Laurie who plays Dr. House is incredible![/blockquote]
As anyone who has seen "A Bit of Fry and Laurie" or "Jeeves and Wooster" knows,
Hugh Laurey is a GOD!
*angelic singing*

It sounds like you have very similar taste to my self, the shows listed below are among my favorites which I think you would like.
Battlestar Galactica (New Series)
Space: Above & Beyond
Wonderfalls
Dead Like Me
Veronica Mars
Carnivale
I'm checking out Charlie Jade at the moment and it look very interesting.

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but another really great show is 'Spaced'. It's a british comedy about this guy, Tim, who works in a comic/sci-fi store. It's pretty funny, and has lots of geeky references.
Tim even loses his job at one point because he refuses to sell Jar Jar Binks merchandise to customers.
He also has a 'Buffy' shrine, at which he prays.
"My days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle."

Monk and Dead Zone have filled some time. Both good shows.
Now of course there are Stargates and Galactica on Fridays.
I loved Gargoyles, very graphic, not really a kids show.
I also scond 24 then reading televisionwithoutpity.com recaps of it while you are on downtime at work. Really funny.
On a side note if you haven't read Firefly recaps of televisionwithoutpity.com, you should. Very entertaining.

Space: Above & Beyond - I would still be watching this show today if it were still on!
Monk - Not SciFi, but just tickles and interests me. Recommended
VR5 - Short weird series, I love it!
Time Tunnel - Cheesy goodness!
U.F.O. - From the BBC. Cool and complete the way they showed other future items and the little details. The show as a whole overcomes the draggin' bits.

Wow..everyone has mentioned so many shows that I love and some that I need to watch. But Im really surprised that no one has mentioned Jeremiah. I loved the first season, but I havent seen the second yet as I dont have Showtime. I only own 2 tv shows on dvd; Jeremiah and The Greatest American Hero.
