I GOT ENGAGED!!!

Last week,I mentioned that I was poppin the question this weekend."So here's how it was--"
I performed at Gotham comedy club Sat night. The club holds 85 there were about 60 people there,35 of which were there for the "event".So I did 1/2 a set then said "I was gonna get serious for a few minutes----I love comedy--"BAM!---right off the bat I get choked up,I didn't cry('cause i'm a man!!!!)but I did have a lump in my throat.I basically talked about my girlfriend and how/why much I loved her. Then I asked her up on stage and got down on 1 knee. See this is the cool thing, she had no idea she thought the reason why all these people were there was because it was a new talent night, where agents show up.We had the club call our home to leave a message inviting me.EVERYONE KNEW!!!!!!-except her, ofcourse :)
"It was the best day ever!"

One last note,3 of my friends who were there are browncoats, and they said "why didnt I throw in a firefly referance when proposing?"
I immediately said the following(ye soon to be proposing can use this )

TWO BY TWO
HANDS OF BLUE
I WANT TO MARRY YOU

"Hamsters is nice."

Now that's shiny. I wish you both happiness and joy!

Did she answer or did she just get so excited she left you hanging like my wife did? For you women reading; when you are asked please answer. Don't just get all happy and smiley and choke up so much you go silent with the joy candle burning in your eyes. Actually say yes. We guys tend to be in a fragile way at that point; some kind of answer is good.

yeah, she said yes,but for the next 30 minutes off the stage, outside the club and before we went to dinner all she kept doing was grinning and saying"you're crazy, you're cray"--I thought I broke her. Can I honestly say I am blown away by all the shiny happy love comin' my way from you all--so thank you all!

Congrats and I'm glad she said "yes" since you were in front of the crowd. By the way, how did the crowd react?

Wish you many happy years of marriage. Like 50 or so.

You know, comedians tend to stay married. There are of course exceptions: Jim Carrey, Robin Williams, Robert Klein, Steve Martin, of course Richard Pryor and Johnny Carson (Carson's last marriage was long one though). Jerry Lewis was married a loooooong time before he got divorced.

But: Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner, Milton Berle, Billy Crystal, George Burns, Harold Lloyd, Harpo Marx, George Carlin, Jay Leno, Jack Benny, Bob Hope, Bill Cosby, Steve Allen, Denis Leary, D.L. Hughley, Damon Wayans, Alan King, Richard Belzer, Michael Palin, Dan Ayckroyd, Kevin Pollack have all been married or were married to the same woman for many decades (or for the younger guys, like a decade or so). I'm pretty sure Paul Reiser, Bernie Mac, Christopher Guest, and Danny Thomas also have or had one wife and no divorce. Letterman isn't married but has been with one woman for quite some time now. Jackie Gleason's first marriage didn't last long, but his second one did. Bonnie Hunt has been married to the same guy forever.

So there ya go, history is on your side.

THANKS! The crowd was awesome! They loved my comedy set (granted 35 of the 60ish were there for me,but still...), then when I started getting serious a couple people laughed but I believe it was because they thought a punchline was comin'.
You know what was funny was after the set was done and we were outside a couple of strangers came up to me,the women were crying and said "congratulations" then there husbands/boyfriends said the same thing,BUT they looked pissed,as if they were thinking"Yeah thanks buddy, now I gotta spend the weekend listening to my woman sayin'--" you never do anything romantic,blah,blah,blah"--,oh and its an EXTENDED weekend, special torture, yeah great, congrats Romeo."
So i'm sorry to all those fellas out there, who may feel that way. It's not a compitition.I love comedy.I love Michelle.I wanted to solidify the best parts of my life in 1 night.

"Hamsters is nice."
