Yes, I'm ashamed...an avid scifi fan who has never been to a convention
...
But in a moment of spontaneity I decided spend money I don't have to register for Comic-Con in San Diego.
Can any "more experienced" souls share any tips, strategies, advice, whatever on how to have a kicka** time?
TIA

Hey, don't fret too much. As a native of Atlanta, I'd never come close to attending DragonCon, until last year. Needless to say, I was a bit overwhelmed. Of course, the main reason I went then was to see our BDHs. Now w/ the premier due at the end of September, I can only imagine at the hoopla we're gonna see this time. Yikes!
" They don't like it when you shoot at 'em. I worked that out myself. "

First get roommates. This close to the Con a room is going to be difficult. So look for someone who is already set up there.
I would recommend either getting a fridge with the room. Then go to Ralph's (It's a Supermarket across the street from the southwest corner of Horton Plaza) It has the food stuff's at reasonable prices. This will give you more cash to work with for con.
A cellphone or other means of keeping a group tied toghere is a must.
If you are bringing a Camera make sure to have your stuff ready (Extra Batteries,Film or Memory cards.)

I tried to keep my post short and sweet and I guess I left out some vital info:
Right now, I'm planning on going Saturday only (debating Friday night for the SciFi Friday premieres on a big screen). Either way, I'll be going solo so no worries about losing the group.
You mention conserving cash...if I show up with the intention of spending $0 (other than maybe a soda) am I being unrealistic? I don't want any autographs and I'm not big on "souvenir" stuff. I seriously shouldn't even be spending the gas money to drive down there! This will be a bargain-budget day for me!
Thanks for the Ralphs tip - I may hit there for a snack before the drive home.
Camera - check! What's the security like at these things - is a small camera bag okay? I couldn't find anything on the con FAQ. I've got quite a few accesories as photography is a passion/obsession of mine.
Thanks for the help!
