Kaylee is more cute than hot and she's the kind of woman I'd love to be involved with. I agree that she is sensual too and that's a turn-on. So yeah, she is no doubt an attractive woman any way her you look at her.

That being said, Jewel IS hot!. They just downplayed her looks on FIREFLY to get that more down-to-earth, adorable quality. But did you see Jewel in WONDERFALLS? Hot.

I haven't seen the trailer so I haven't seen the thinner Kaylee (thanks for the spoiler :)) but while Jewel is thinner in WONDERFALLS I don't think that's why she looks hotter. I think the makeup and wardrobe let us see her in a different way. A way that was hot.

Simonsays-I hope you weren't suggesting that Firefly Kaylee was plump because that was far from the case. I think she was more "healthy weight" Kaylee than anything else.

I've read one of Jewel's blogs where she says that she's just naturally skinny and I respect that, I just think she looked cuter and more natural and less like all the other skinny skinny actresses out there when she had the extra 20 lbs. But I couldn't see any sign of blubber at all.

And I like that Joss isn't afraid to put more natural looking women in his TV shows-like Tara in Buffy.

I think Kaylee is beautiful...and mean, absolutely gorgeous. Movie star beautiful...That being said, when she's that pretty on the outside, and her character is that sweet, and nice, and feisty, and generous, and sexual, and technogeekish, and PUT THAT STRAWBERRY DOWN I CAN'T SEE STRAIGHT!!!

Plus, I like how open she is with everyone...and I'll be the first to make a distinction between Kaylee and Mrs. Staite. They are two different creatures...Granted, Mrs. Staite has imbued Kaylee with some fantastic qualities, physically...(Can you even imagine anyone else playing that part?) the character is also, highly, highly attractive...

I'd love to hit, and not forget it...

Jewel is beautiful with or without the 20lb. I never thought she looked "plump" in Firefly and I don't think she looks skinny now. If they hadn't mentioned her weight on the DVD documentary I don't think anyone would ever have commented on it.

Anyway, Kaylee's appeal goes beyond looks. She is kind, sweet, intelligent and an engineer - fantasy girlfriend for any geek. One of the reasons that the pilot was so good was that we didn't just fancy Kaylee; Joss made us fall in love with her that so we really cared what happened to her when she was shot.
