I can understand being wary of animation if you're accustomed to what American has to offer. But Miyazaki is a far cry from American animation. He is typically regarded as a god by Disney animators, and his movies are not only intelligent and honest, but are also complex and quite frankly not just children's affair, since the stories in his movies, while in general being appropriate for all ages, are never juvenile. Don't let your predisposition to dislike animation stop you from seeing this extraordinary movie. Miyazaki always uses the medium to its very highest potential, and creates stunningly beautiful, enchanting, delightful movies.

I assure you Canada has not been left out - it seems to be playing pretty regularly in Montreal.

I've been a bit wary of going to see it - Diana Wynne Jones books were a big part of my childhood, too (some books much more than others, though, and Howl's... I never got into so much)... I'm just really scared off by how mechanical-looking everything looked in the trailer. Isn't the castle meant to be more mysterious than a breaking-down steam-train?

Please don't tell me they're ever making movies of the 4 Cimorene books (by Patricia C. Wrede)... or the Alanna ones (Tamora Pierce)...
