I think that this would add to the board if we could keep track of when we first started on board and how many posts we have made.

I was thinking of something like they have at aintitcoolnews. After a certain number of posts you get a different title. The only title I can remember is 5000 posts and they call you a stalker. It would probaly work out well to go with the military rank or something similar.

btw, can we start calling trolls Reavers?

Depending on how things go, I love the Reavers idea, but we don't know that reavers are bezoars yet. They may be more complex and better than trolls.

And I have to say that I don't like the title idea - it may psychologically motivate people to post and, if you want a busy board, that's good, but I find it manipulative if that's the reason. And it encourages pointless posting-for-the-sake-of-posting posts. And, even if it's just for fun, it segregates what should be a community of fellow fans into ranks based on basically arbitrary principles. I like everybody being able to make up their own individual whacked-out titles and avs and whatnot. But I do like the idea of being able to keep up with post counts themselves, though - and when they occurred. Just so you can go "Man, I've been posting way too much lately" or "Hey, where's so-and-so - they haven't posted in ages."

I like the idea and I can create something like that. The problem is coming up with the various categories. At the moment, we really don't have a clue as to who is who on Firefly, or the rankings they hold (unless some higher power fills us in on those little details...hint..hint).

I hadn't thought of it in that way. I agree with you that titles simply for number of posts does encourage me too posts that lack any substenance. What I was thinking was to reward those posters who spend a lot of time discussing and influencing topics. But I suppose a poster is rewarded when someone replies to thier posts or quotes them.

I like the idea of post count to see who is busy. Did someone come back from vacation and post a bunch? Is someone gone? Have I had a good day with my ISP and posted more than last week?

Titles---For that I like the idea that we make up our own, or possibley are nominated for some sort of title.

I would like to nominate Haken for the Gee-Whiz Webmaster of the month award

Now if this was the X-Files, there would be a shadow government with a few secret members that decides titles and other neat stuff.

Did I cover everything? I hope so.

Tieka,

Are you suggesting that someone with the title of Producer or Writer may be posting here? Or are you suggesting that someone has a lot of posts so they must be Mal?

I dont know if any of you go to www.forum4fans.com, but their message boards are awesome with great post counts and titles for how many posts you have.

Gleebo - I don't go there and when I went for a look I got a 404. Is that the right address or are they just down at the moment?

I don't see that smiley, Tieka, but I was going to say to you, too.

- Hey. I got it right anyway.
