I must of come into this late.
Where did we get Washington for Washs last name? I mean get where you are seeing it, but is the WASH-WASHington connection all we have or was it written in some script?

As for you latent deification, I feel for you. Do they not recognize your power? I know what it is--they have not yet tasted of your wrath. Tickle 'em with a little bit of that and I suspect it'll be nothing but bowing and scraping and obsequiousness there on out.

Yeah, I know, I probably spelled obsequiousness wrong.

Yeah I was sayin' whoa to you, I kinda live in ignorance on this board. I know I'm talking to people all over the US and in other countries, but to me it's like holding a conversation with friends right in front of you, around the table kinda. And then finding out that that person is a few million miles away, it's mind boggling.

Sorry FireFlyFans is the first time I have ever had contact with people on the web. And growing up in the internet era that is amazing.

You spelt obsequiousness right. Perhaps I will make it rain seedless watermelons or pumpkin pie, I like pie. That will really get that fawning goin'. Well maybe the starving bumbs.

Last I heard, Alabama wasn't a few million miles from Washington. Hell and gone, maybe, but not a million.

As for wrath, I vote pie. I would even visit Washington if I knew it were going to rain cheesecake.

How about this- in an episode pre-dating the current timeline but after Wash joins the crew we discover what "bothered" Zoe was his B.O. She refuses to speak to him about anything other than ship business (or even be in his presence), instead rebuffing his attempts at conversation with a simple "Wash". Only when he breaks down and takes a shower (and loses the soup strainer) does she finally come around. But in the tradition of all great nicknames, "Wash" just kinda sticks.

Interesting theory. Better than Wash being short for Washington.

Not better at all! No no no. Wash is beautiful and wonderful and has shiny hygiene.

Y'all go bother some other thread and leave us Valkyries to our fantasies!

Sarahetc, maybe Wash is Zoë’s nickname for him, it could stand for Wondrously Astoundingly Sexy Human.
Or maybe it could be Whimsically, Uproariously, Superbly, Humorous.
Or- Warm, Adoring, Sizeable, and Hilarious.
Possibly even- Wonderfully, Amazingly, Skillfully, Handsome.
Alright, I don’t really think so, I’m betting his family just had a sense of humor. If there are people out there willing to juggle geese, I’m betting there are people willing to just name their kid Wash. By the way, I like it. But don't worry Sarahetc, I’m strictly a "for Simon" type of gal. Oh that man is hot!
