My point isn't about the trailer being bad or good, that is obviously subjective anyway.
The point is that the negative review was of the trailer NOT the movie.
So calm down everyone.

SimonWho:
As many here have attested, the uninitiated in the public at large appear to like the trailer. And that's the point of a trailer: To get the non-fans to purchase tickets. The die-hard fans will see the movie, regardless how they feel about the trailer (or else, they're not actually die-hard fans). The studio's goal -- which we Flans share -- is to get the millions of theatre-goers who know nothing about Firefly to pay to see Serenity.
There may be a vast number of Browncoats aimlessly waiting for 30 September; but, in order for Serenity to spawn sequels (I'd like at least six, personally), we're gonna need millions of additional people to pay for seats. I still don't think it's impossible for Serenity to become an international sensation and generate hundreds of millions of dollars in box office revenue.
This trailer -- to the extent that it intrigues sci-fi/action fans -- is a step in the right direction. It's advertising. Advertising tells half-truths, at best. That's business.
Respectfully,
zoid
