My store isn't Firefly related (sadly - but I don't have any lawyer-friendly images to use) but figured you experts could help me out.

I opened the store yesterday but if I do a search it doesn't show up under its specific category. Just wondered whether it takes a while for new stores to show up (obviously I can link to it direct) or whether I've done something wrong. Since I've just done this for a bit of fun, it's only a basic store. Don't know whether that makes a difference.

All advice appreciated

It could take a little while, and you're likely to be at the bottom of the list of anything that's already been there under that category. I personally haven't had the greatest of luck with the searches on CP, even when trying to find my own stores. I know the search terms they're listed under, and try those, and they will tell me one time that there are no stores with those items, and then I'll try again later, and they all come up fine!

Just link to the store directly as much as you can for best exposure.

Thanks - fortunately my store's not in a "big" category and it's only for fun anyway.

But am now seriously thinking about a Firefly one - it's just staying that right side of copyright violation!!

Hey we've been having lots of debating about this over at the official browncoat forum...

I have just recently learned that CafePress will pull anything that could be considered "questionable" unless you can back it up with official paperwork. I just got an email saying there were questionable content, and would be pending until I could verify it... I never got a response when I asked specifically what the problem was so I wouldn't make the mistake twice. I was trying to stay on the right side of the copyright myself... all my artwork I did by hand, and in 2 months I sold about 15 item (don't get too excited, I only made $1 per item, and unless I make another $10 before 6 months they void your balance- read the fine print).

My goal was more to get artwork out to support the show/movie, and any money would go toward buying more dvds to spread the series to the uninitiated. I have just remade my whole store at CP, with all new art and designs (except one of River with I redid to become a different piece altogether. You can see some of the old stuff at my Zazzle shop, which is a diff. option. They are more customizable, and everything is 10% commision.

One question- the marketplace- is there a way to add your store info, or do people have a place they list that I am missing? Anyway, I am going to get back to exploring, I haven't spent much time here. I joined the browncoats from the movie page, serenitymovie.com ... I need to get out more ;)

I read about the problem you had & feel for you! I know the whole copyright thing is questionable but there doesn't seem to be any consistency in the images they'll allow to be used.

I gather the Marketplace hasn't been updated in a while - best thing to do it just post in one of the existing threads.

I just had a couple of items made "pending" based on "questionable" art (the Serenity logo). Which, granted, I don't have the right to profit from.

The irony is that I have a slightly different version that hasn't been questioned. I also went ahead and duplicated the art in my primitive, Power-Point-like way, since that's about the only manipulation software to which I have access, and re-posted the "offending" items.

Go figure!! So far none of my Firefly/Serenity stuff has been bought, but it's also pretty new.

I don't yet know what the triggers are, and based on the disparity above, can't imagine!!
