I finally found the "send me my password" option so I was able to actually log in. :)

Rich (sendmeawave) has advised he no longer has the time to devote to the Southeastern Browncoats. He has asked that I coordinate the activities of the organization, particularly in regards to the upcoming DragonCon convention.

With that in mind, I have scheduled a meeting of Volunteer Browncoats in Atlanta. We don’t just need bodies, we need creative minds, too.

I understand many of you would like to volunteer but will not be here in town until the convention begins. You can still help. Please email me your screen name(s), real name and contact information as well as what you are able to contribute (money, time in the booth, decorating committee, etc.).

I do have a Paypal account that will be used only for the SEBC going forward and if you email me a request I will forward that information to you. A complete record keeping of funds received and monies spent will of course be available upon your email request two weeks after the end of DragonCon. I will be using my cash to fund things for now, so help is appreciated!

The first meeting of volunteers will be held at a Public Library in Atlanta on Saturday, June 4th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. Cookies, soft drinks and an agenda will be provided. Do NOT call the library directly for directions (they were very adamant about this.). I will provide you that information when you advise me you will be attending. Due to their parking space limitations, I need to you RSVP to me BY EMAIL if you will attend the meeting – ideally by June 1st. This is also so I can have enough of said soft drinks, cookies and agendas. ;-)

Now as to the issues we hope to address at this meeting:

There is talk of an “official” Shindig from the American SciFi Track on Friday night, but from what I understand we will do all the work. Initial planning needs to be discussed and I hope to obtain further information from the American SciFi Track before our meeting.

The SEBC would like to have a Browncoat Ball on Saturday night. If someone takes offense at our using the name Browncoat Ball please let me know. We will need to begin the planning for this as well. I am currently in discussions with the hotels to determine if space is available.

We will need to start discussions on the booth itself - goals and objectives, staffing the booth, materials, etc.

DragonCon ’05 is going to be spectacular. We have our cast of BDH’s coming. AND Joss. Himself. We need to make sure the Browncoats show everyone we know how to put on a good party.

NDreams sign me up long distance, please! I'm in ST. Pete Florida. Screen name FireflyGal, e-mail realflygal@hotmail.com, real name Aleta*. Wish I could contribute money but I just got laid off. There was a post a short while back with a possibly very generous donation offer, I believe it was in the 5 BDH's at DragonCon post. A Lady Browncoat was asking about a con suite. I don't know if she may have contacted SendMeAWave already but she should certainly be contacted. A suggestion, if possible, through DragonCon ask if they would extend an invitation to our after hours functions to the cast and Joss. If it's anything like last year, Adam at least will probably show up. Another thought is sponserships from local sci-fi shops and or sci-fi magazines for have their logo or similar up during the Browncoat Ball and any other shindig?

Ok NDreams, I checked out the old post I mentioned and the Lady Browncoat that may have some coin to donate is Sita and there's an Atlanta Resident SlayThis willing to volunteer, so hopefully those Browncoats will se ethis and give you their info.

It is so great of you to take this on. My daughter and I will be happy to help in any way we can. It'll have to be long distance since we live in Annapolis. We'll be at the Con Thursday through Sunday. I'll e-mail you with vital statistics. As this is our first Con, I think being involved with helping out will make it even more special.

C'mon everyone! If we all pitch in it'll be more fun for all!!

Hey back at ya FFG1!

Yep, daughter and I have been into Joss generally and Firefly specifically for quite some time, but are just now really getting into being part of the community as it were. And what better way than to just jump right on in and get totally involved! Can't wait to meet you too, and all the other loyal Browncoats who will be at Dragon*Con. And I really do think helping out will make it even more fun.

I think I'll wait and pick up the lanyards and pins at the Con. Hopefully we'll be able to help you sell them there.

I'll be thinkin about ya Thursday when I'm at the DC screening. I'm so excited I can't hardly stand it!

And again to all the other Browncoats attending Dragon*Con - let's all get involved and have some fun! And let's show those West Coasters (God love ya! You guys get all the good Cons) that the us East Coasters can put on one whale of a Browncoat event!

Hey BB1, we Browncoats are certainly a helpful bunch, sometimes stuff even goes according to the gorram plans

I'll be at the Miami prescreening, so I'll be with you in spirit! Bringing the pins and lanyards there too! Maybe we can have a Thursday night Browncoat meetup before things kick off. If I remember you decided to arrive on Thursday after all?
