I'm afraid "Joan" lost me this season when they introduced the Evil Leaper character, what's-his-name, who can also talk to God. Yawn.

I'll third that! I was actually starting to get pretty tired of the "House" format - utterly predictable, and completely unbelievable, week after week. But this one blew me away!

The only other 2% "must see" shows still on my list are:

"Veronica Mars" (WHOA, did that one have a great finale!) - and thank heaven for BitTorrent downloads so I can watch both VM and House, since they're on at the same time :-)

"Battlestar Galactica" - can't wait for new episodes. Grown-up SF! Yay.

That's it, I guess. Is "Lost" actually worth getting into? It looked so dopey in the promos early in the season.

One word, YES! It has been absolutely fantastic this season and have not had one bad ep so far. Season fanalie looks great also. Can't wait. Also, if you have an HDTV, it's worth it to watch it (if you get the channel in HD) just for the picture. The senery is superb, filming in Hawaii. The only thing I'm a little worried about the show is becoming the way of The X-Files, but so far it's been a great show and my new fav show on TV.

Amazingly enough, I had never heard that before. I love his quote, though - now that you've brought it to my attention. Very astute. And it's telling that what he said in 1953 still holds true in 2005.

I started watching 'Joan', conviently, on the night that they aired the season 1 finale after the summer, so that it could be followed by the premiere the next week. I thought, this is cool, religious intrigue sorta stuff...

I never saw the first supposedly great season, though i'm thinking of getting it on DVD someday.... So on the strength of the second season alone, I learned to like JoA, and I was annoyed when I missed it, and i just liked watching it, and I loved the credits for some odd reason. But anyhoo..... it's gone. Gorram it... and I was really interested in this arc they had built up for season 3, with this sort of holy cold war, and joan would finally tell her friends about God maybe.... and (though i didnt see season 1) they FINALLY mentioned the original Joan d'Arc, and that felt really profound to me at least.

Sturgeon does cut to the heart of the matter. Joan's writers lost me at the same spot(Mr.evil saves what's his name). Veronica has been remarkably consistant, not requiring much exercise of my disbelief suspention muscles. Lost lost me 3 times. I tried to stay interested(what were the alternatives?)
BS Galactica, kicks. Sure everyone knew James Olmos was a hard guy but what a bad ass! Great cast, excellent writing and production! I'm sorry but I think Sturgeon might have missed by what? say 8% I think he may not have allowed for reality tv in 1953(being as most American families wouldn't own one til the 60's). Factoring in the extra 45% B.S. We should be happy and content with the current offerings!
