If given the choice, Serenity television series, or 2 more films?

It's pretty easy to read another message between those lines Rabit. Most every time Joss has been asked about it, he's been in the mode of promoting the movie. He mentioned early on, when the movie idea was first being thrown around that no studio would be interested in investing in the movie if it was merely a vehicle to relaunch a series. That's plenty of reason for him to play it close to the vest for now.
My guess is Joss has too much story in him to be satisfied with a movie every two or three years. It might come out in comics, novels, or maybe, just maybe, re-launching the series. I, for one, remain hopeful.

I was fortunate enough to have seen the BDM already and I have got to say that seeing it on the big screen makes it difficult to imagine the show ever returning to television.
Personally, I would have loved to see a couple more seasons of character development and bad guys being fed into engines, but that was before seeing the movie.
Also, I would like to point out that almost every show seems to suffer from a 22 episode season. It is very difficult to produce meaningful stories for such an extended period that both develops characters and retains continuity. Almost every series tends to have a few 'throw away' episodes that really don't add much to the overall story and ultimately tends to hinder the show's overall quality.
I think Firefly even came across this problem in the episode 'Heart of Gold'. A major continuity from 'Trash' and 'The Message' (The Lassiter) was lost in this episode and the crew's reason for partaking in the whorehouse job was, I felt, flimsy at best.
This is not to say that the episode was completely uselss, since there was some serious development in the relationships between both Mal/Inara and Wash/Zoe. However, these changes could have occured in a variety of settings.
If the series had continued, more of these issues might have cropped up which would diminish the overall effect of the show.
With a trilogy of movies, however, more time is allocated to produce an admittably truncated version of episodes containing less character development, but I think of a higher level of presentation and quality.
Also, how cool would it be to have a special edition boxed set of the Serenity Trilogy sitting on top of your DVD player as you watch 6 non-stop hours of our DBH's go from one end of the 'verse to the other with all the shiny visual movie magic and 7.1 channel surround sound helping them out along the ride? Can't you just see it?!

Appreciate your opinion here Oxy, and it's just as valid as any, but personally, I'd take the character development over the presentation and quality any day. Joss could do Firefly with the fabled sock puppet troupe for all I care, as long as the character stuff is intact. If we lose that in the process of movie-izing Firefly.... well, I'm still hoping that doesn't happen.

Well, I'd like to see one of two things.
1) After SERENITY comes out and it becomes the next STAR WARS/MATRIX sci-fi franchise, I'd like to see FOX and Universal in a huge bidding war to see who get's full rights of the property. Universal/NBC wins out, and FIREFLY is brought back as a mid-season replacement to whatever bomb drama NBC has in the first half. End up doing spectacular LOST/DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES ratings and we all get what we want. But Joss wisely calls it quits after 4 years. Remember how Joss said that with the axe constantly hanging over your head they really did their best in trying to pack in as much story as possible? Well, I think that if the show was still on and it became a self-perpetuating motion machine, then it would run out of gas and peter out. I think that any show should have a life-span of five seasons. Long enough to satisfy the fans, but short enough to keep them from repeating themselves and meandering along. This is why I have far more respect for FUTURAMA than I do for THE SIMPSONS and think that Alan Ball is smart in calling it quits after this season of SIX FEET UNDER.
2) If we can't see then back on the small screen, then maybe the big screen endeavors should continue. Instead of two more movies, how about five. I've said this before, but theoretically, one could make a movie based on each of the characters. Now, we could compress some of those and just have a series with six movies in them. Six is kinda the magic # for film franchises. There are 6 STAR WAR movies, 6 STAR TREK films with the original cast, 6 Sean Connery James Bond movies, Columbia wants to make 3 more Spider-Man movies after #3, and most horror franchises seem to have about an average of six films to them. So I think five movies after SERENITY should satisfy everyone.
That's just what I think.

Here's my fantasy.
Serenity makes a decent profit, say $100 million at the North American box office. Sequel is greenlighted with a bigger budget. Joss, now having done both Serenitiy and Wonder Woman, gets even better at the big screen. Serenity #2 crosses over from cult favorite to mainstream success. Serenity # 3 is enthusiastically anticipated, with a record opening. It breaks out as a major blockbuster, gets a few Oscars, and our BDH's get invited to the Academy Awards as presenters. Their careers are launched into outer space.
Now a more seasoned movie maker and Hollywood's newest IT director, Joss can do whatever he wants. He manages to talk FOX partially out of their stranglehold on Firefly rights and produces a Firefly mini-series to launch a new spin off series (like Angel from Buffy) that enjoys 7 seasons on a major network (not FOX) AND 3 more motion pictures.
Sitting on my DVD shelf 15 years from now, I'll have Firefly the original series, Serenity trilogy, Firefly mini-series, Spin Off series seasons 1-7, and the Spin off movie trilogy. And I'll be satisfied.
It could happen.

Well, Given the hypothetical option of 2 guaranteed 22 episode seasons or 2 movies, I'd take the 44 hours over the 4 hours of my BDHs. But considering the contractual restrictions I'll take 2-3 more movies in the next 8 years, then more seasons when the restrictions end.
And I'd prefer the seasons on NBC(which Universal also owns) over Sci-Fi, I just don't feel the need to pay another $30 a month for 1-3 channels worth the occassional view. If They'd charge per channel I'd get it, But I don't need 3 ESPNs, and 10 home shopping channels.

Definitely a series, but if I am going to be fair to the actors (and they are so shiny) more films would, probably be better for their careers, maybe they might like the regular income though - who knows.

Aside from anything, a TV series ain't gonna happen again, so people are visiting their lives away in that respect.

It's a pointless question. Universal only has the rights for more movies. If it became a series again, Fox still owns the TV rights and you know what that means. I'll take the movies.
I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.
