New Serenity Squared Con thread - maybe?

The biggest problem I can see with regards to the fancy dress, having been to the Serenity con, is whether or not you think it's worth being utterly outclassed by the insanely good costumes of the really serious folk. It's a mite off-putting.

I think you all have to accept that no matter how long spend on your costume, how many sequins you sew on, how many thousands of times you watch the DVDs to study reference points, there'll be somebody else who comes along, hollows out a dinosaur and totally outclasses you. It's the way of all things.
Bollywood, for those who don't know, is the name given to the film output of India (don't laugh, they actually make more films than any other country in the world). The films generally follow a simple of mix of a traditional plot combined with the cast bursting into song and dance for no explicable reason.
The trouble I have is that there's no real "Bollywood outfits" in much the same way as there is no "Hollywood outfits". A pity really because there were some really great ideas over on the Starfury boards for themes. Still, 400 guys in tuxedos... there's going to be chemistry in the air that night.

Okay, I give up for the Bollywood theme.
For the Alan Tudyk one, I'll have something, though not of a Washasaurus proportion.
And for James Bond... yeah, why not. If most people come dressed up for that night, it would be shiny

All good fun, eh?
What would one have to do on an overnight shift? Does it involve staying up all night? If so then here is where being a university student might come in handy! I'm hardened to staying up all night, of course a degree might be useful too I guess! I always forget that's why I'm here. Damn!
I was considering being a steward when I was going to come on my own but amazingly my Mum was eager to join me and so I have decided I'll not bother. I'm still amazed she wants to go, I never thought she would. When I phoned her this evening she asked me if it was November yet. I'm inclined to agree with her although I'd settle for October!
Looking at my finances (I spent £270 on Wednesday! Whoops!) I have decided i can't afford to stay in the hotel. Fortunately my Grandpa lives in London and my Mum is willing to drive to the con everyday but I'm just hoping I don't regret not staying where the action is as it were.

I'm likely to be banned anyway following my recent faux pas (less said the better), but it's just been pointed out on the Starfury forum that the website's been updated and that there's no longer any reference to Battlestar Galactica.
Summer & Nathan are up as the first confirmed guests.

Woo-hoo! The more Firefly goodness, the better. And have you actually been barred Fray or did you just make a faux pas because I hope no-one would get banned for a simple mistake.
If I was banned from all the places and people where I've stuck my foot firmly in my mouth, well, I'd have no place left to go.

I certainly hope I'm joking!!! Anyone who's looked at that board today will no doubt be aware of my humiliation...
But anyway, I for one will be delighted if this turns out to be 100% Firefly. But people are obviously going to be disappointed - especially if they've already bought their ticket on the basis that BSG cast members would be there.
(I'd be happier if Sean was up there as a definite too - maybe they're just looking for the right photo to post!)

Yep, looks good for November - Sean & Christina are up there but with a `?` where the pic should be - perhaps some people need to refresh the page when they view it to update the content within their browser.
Anybody got a box and can stuff Saffron in and take her home??
