best non-comedic lines

okay, we all have our favorite quote from the shows we spend so much time discussing here. most of the quotes i have seen on people's signatures and such are goofy comedic sorts of lines. "i was cool before i met y'all" or "i am a large, semi muscular man" (one of my personal favorites). not all are comedic like that, but most. my question is what is your favorite serious or nasty or really cold line? not funny, but a line that made you think "ooo, that was mean." or "i cannot believe he/she just said that."

i have a couple of them but the first one that comes to mind for me:

angel, season 4 from habeas corpses
lilah: you’re never going to get anything but gray. and i don’t see your texas gal-pal wearing that color. come to think of it, she prefers black.

anyone else feel that draft?

Mine has to be at the end of "The Train Job" when the sherriff confronts Mal about the medicine and says he understands how a man learns all the truth of a situation and he then has a choice and Mal's response:

Malcolm Reynolds: "No, I don't believe he does."

Really shows you the character behind the man.

"Whoa, good Bible."

Simon: I'm trying to put this as delicately as I can... How do I know you won't kill me in my sleep?
Mal: You don't know me, son. So let me explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed.
Simon: Are you always this sentimental?
Mal: Had a good day.
Simon: You had the Alliance on you, criminals and savages... half the people on the ship have been shot or wounded including yourself, and you're harboring known fugitives.
Mal: We're still flying.
Simon: That's not much.
Mal: It's enough.

well... the first line of it is funny as hell, but the rest i've taken very seriously...and the last three lines seem to describe browncoats and the entire series perfectly.

The lines I use in my sig are, I think fairly indicative of Simon, his relationship to Kaylee, and how he has chosen to cope and live in the environment he finds himself in.

Here's another one from Angel, but its in spoiler mode, as its from the series finale:

When Lorne tells Angel he'll do what asked of him, but tells Angel that he's not coming back, I thought that showed just how loyal a friend Lorne was, and just how disgusted that Angel was using him this way.

And, let's see, over in Buffy...Giles was my favorite character over there, and his concern for Buffy never seemed to get in the way when he felt she needed a dressing down (At times, I felt he was far too hard on Xander.) Revelations, I think the episode was...Between Buffy and Giles, after he discovers that Angel is still alive...His speech about how Buffy has no respect for him or the position he takes in her life...I loved the line, but, man, that was vicious considering he's talking to a what, 17 year old girl?

Kaylee: "What's so damn important about being proper? It don't mean nothing out here in the black."
Simon: "It means more out here. It's all I have..."

i am not so sure that lorne was disgusted with how angel was using him, after all, in the previous episode, angel says "i can't order you to do this." but lorne raises his hand at the end, albeit, he is the last to do so and he does so reluctantly but he is not forced to do anything. i think mostly he was just tired of the constant fighting. he never was the fighting type. he says "it's not my kind of work anymore. it's unsavory."

Just look at how Lorne looked when he shot Lindsay. You could tell he was disappointed with himself, and disappointed with what he had to do. Yes, he volunteered, because he knew Angel was right, and that Lindsay would never see it coming from him, but Lorne, being the funnest, almost the most human of the group, had to sacrifice a part of himself to do that. If you remember way back in Lorne's history on the show, he was hard to intimidate, and rarely backed down when directly threatened. That changed over the course of the show, mostly after they got back from Pylea. Lorne didn't fit in the demon ruled dimension of Pylea, because he didn't want to act like a "demon" or rather, he had dashes of humanity in him. With what he did for Angel, those parts of himself that he considered above his demon "nature" were killed when he actually killed someone for Angel. He didn't agree with it, but he saw the necessity, and I doubt he would have done it for anyone else. My only hope is that after he left this group, he would be able to find "himself" again.

I have two that are sticking out in my head right now.

Simon's monologue when Jayne is on the table in Trash "We could circle each other and growl, sleep with one eye open. . .but that thought wearies me. . ." etc. That whole 4-5 line speech is good.

Also during The Message, Tracy & Mal's dialogue towards the end is very touching.
