Thank you, filmgoddess, for stepping up and taking that responsibility. I shouldn't have any trouble getting there by 8:30 myself and will help out as best I can. I will also be bringing a bunch of food. In addition to checking with the theater and emailing Harry Knowles, try to contact the entertainment editors at both the Statesman and the Chronicle, and of course contact the local food bank for suggestions.

Browncoats are such shiny people!

Okay here's the thing. I can't seem to get a hold of the lady who does promotions for the theater. According to a manager at the theater this is who I need to talk to about this. I will continue trying but if I can't get ahold of her by Thursday then we won't be able to do it. If it doesn't go through maybe we can hold a shindig later on that will raise money as well as food for different causes. But again I will keep trying

I'll be waiting for further word from you, filmgoddess, and will do whatever I can. I realize this was all very short notice, so no problem if we can't make it work this time. We do have plenty of time to plan something similar for the official release in September.

Okay I finally heard back from her but she says that we have to contact Universal to set this up since they were the ones who set up all the publicity and promotions for this event. But she doesn't know who I need to talk to at Universal. So at this point b/c there's not much time left I'm going to give up. I still think we should do this just not at the screening. Before the opening of Serenity we should have a private shindig for Browncoats in the Austin area to raise money and food for charity. What do you guys think of this?
As far as a shindig after the screening, you could go to Kirby Lane. They're open 24 hours and it's very Austiny. I don't know how well they would do with a really large group. And I won't be there b/c I have work the next morning (damn work)

Since there are so many different threads on the various, I've opened up a Yahoo Group called Austin Browncoats, so all of the Central Texas folks have one place to connect, coordinate shindigs, leave/find announcements about local happenings, etc. Please swing by, sign up for the group, load pics and announcements... whatever you like, (this is an all-ages group, so no naked Jayne scans please!). We could probably get a good grassroots thing going, maybe get the crew down here for some promotional shenanigans near premiere time... who knows? I'll cross-post to the other Austin threads and see y'all at the tailgate!
