Damn! Guess I should check my e-mail inbox at 3:30am more often so I don't miss these screening announcements.

If you picked up a few extra tix and are feeling benevolent, I'll happily buy one or two from you!

I'm in the same position. If anyone has one or two extra tickets (prefferably two, but I'll take what I can get!), I'll gladly purchase it/them!

I wish they'd chosen a larger venue than the Meridian. Sheesh! Those theaters are tiny in there.

Fellow Browncoats:

The thing nobody seems to have noticed in all this is that scalpers have become involved in this process. I was very concerned when Joss related that theatre personnel had been threatened by ticket requesters. I'm now inclined to believe that these were not the acts of over-eager fans, but of scalpers looking to make as big a profit as possible. My guess is that these people bought the maximum number of tickets and are now auctioning them off in various places, in order to victimize the fans and studio's good will.

If I were the studio, I would immediately cancel all the shows and give ticket holders a refund of the $10 face value. Then I'd rethink the process (say a limit of 1 ticket per person) and reschedule the events. It would keep people somewhat honest (which scalpers are not).

In any event, Browncoats should never bid on one of these tickets. It's profiteering at its worst. Make the scalpers eat their excess tickets. And as for the two tickets with excess proceeds going to charity: Yeah, right, and I'm the King of Londinium and wear a shiny hat...

It sounds like you mean well, and I'm not gonna try to be excessively mean to you or anything, but in all seriousness you don't know me at all and its really not fair to assume I am trying to profit from fans or take advantage of them, when I am actually doing neither. Like I said, I am using the money to help my friend come to the screening with me and I am going to use whatever money is left, if there is any, to help sponsor a kid through the Plan program in Burkina Faso. So yeah, you're welcome to not believe me, but I just wanted to defend myself because I really don't fit the picture you painted in your post. And while I wanted to stay mature, I also feel obligated to say you suck.

Gosh, I realize it's the wrong film, but "I find your lack of faith disturbing!" If the seller above says proceeds are going to charity, I have to believe that's the truth. He could sure sell those tix for a pretty price without making that claim.

As for me, I sure hope there ARE scalpers at the Chicago screening. I'll be buying.

And I'm still willing to part with my Austin ticket for face value or exchange for a Chicago ticket. You won't see mine on ebay.

Why not? You could auction it off to the highest bidder and pay for your plane ticket and a limo to the theatre. Apparently, in the modern version of 'Scruples' that's perfectly fair...

I've never paid a scalper's price for a ticket, nor have I ever paid for sex. Same difference as far as I'm concerned. But, hey, to each his own. Enjoy the movie. I hope it's worth what it costs you. Everybody else: I'll see y'all in September.
