I haven't heard anything, unfortunately. Last time I talked to someone at FOX, the lady just said that nothing has changed. She said they hadn't routed the emails we sent to her office, but that it didn't matter anyway. They are committed to releasing the soundtrack. I asked her again if there is anything fans can do to help expedite the release, and she said no.
This was vastly different from the first time I talked to her, when she encouraged me to tell fans to send emails and that they would definitely count. So I am confused. I have no idea why she would change her tune that way.
Sorry that I don't have any more news than this.
A bump of sorts here: anyone hear anything new about a soundtrack cd? Maybe someone somewhere can see if maybe a _double_ cd with the film and the series music could be released when the time comes?

Greetings:
Sent my request in and perhaps everyone here can do something that'll spark alittle heat. NPR usually runs a local request day. If everyone started hitting the NPR stations over a month's time, it might generate more interest in a soundtrack release. When organizations ask about a project, a studio usually perks up it's ears.
Didn't think to ask for a 'double' CD set...sigh. But did suggest that they do like Paramount has done and add some extra features like a VCD section.
The music can stand on it's own and would play on anything from classical to country (Ballard of Serenity) to perhaps top 40. Know that it would work on satelite radio. Counting down the days till the release.
If Scifi releases BSG, wouldn't Fox want something to compete, especially since they know they have a loyal fan base???

I just submitted a news thing here. But to add to your comment, we should go to the Fox Music (foxmusic.com) downloads store--Navio storefront:
http://builder.navio.com/tts/store/index.jsp?id=a0a0164000000ff706071f

There you can click on the banner in the middle to "Sign Up for Future Releases." It lists "Firefly" in the banner ad. No CD, but it's much better than nothing.

I saw the first episode, bought the series, and am now slowly trudging through it. I LOVE IT!!
Not to mention the soundtrack. Just wanted to let all the browncoats know I just registered for the forum, and sent Fox an e-mail. WOO! : )

The navio store only has Microsoft WMA files. No good for iPods! Better email Fox and ask them to sell it through iTunes as well. Should be no problem, the movie trailer is on iTunes.

Well, you can convert between all these formats. Even if it's DRM-protected you just burn a CD and then there's no DRM. Re-import however you want. But if those WMA files to have Microsoft's DRM, you can't use them on Mac. Whereas iTunes is universal for Mac and PC alike.
Also, with a conversion you either get a bigger file or slightly lower quality. (Depends on your settings.) That's OK, but for the same money it's nice not to have to compromise.
