Inara: What did I say to you about barging in to my shuttle?
Mal: That it was manly and impulsive?
Inara: Yes, precisely, only the exact phrase I used was "don't."

The song is entitled "Club Foot"
My thoughts on the Serenity trailer, one day later....
Well the trailer is appealing to the mainstream masses, with it's formulaic lay out (as someone mentioned that the Hitcchiker's Guide to the Galaxy amusingly noted) and implication that it is a simply good vs. bad choice.
This to me is an incredibly smart move on the part of Joss and Universal. The film needs to make money...lots of people coming to watch it will make it money. Perhaps a few will be confused or feel cheated that this is not their usual, same-storyline-different-pretty-actors-and-excessive-uses-of-fights-and-killings-and-sex movie, but it doesn't matter, they've spent the money..
They are also trying to reel in sci-fi fans which this does very well, and I suspect that though the movie will probably be dramatically less western than the series, there will probably be a lot of western influences still present.
It seems to me that trailers rarely give a big sense of the movie or the plot these days, but is a marketing technique. Lots of explosions, lots of cool one liners, lots of danger, a big scary villain, a big shiny space ship..set to rock music etc...
Also, personally I think referencing Buffy and Angel will pull in many folk who just thought it was another Hellboy or suchlike, and then remembered that funny show from a few years back (I know many people who thought it was cool and watched it, but werent overly obsessed with it like I.)
Finally....damn I just love it so much. There's such potential, you see such flashings, almost subliminal messages to the hardcore fans, and I'm sure "You can't stop the signal" is a huge plot device, but Joss must have noticed the double meaning. When I realised what it was implying..danced like an E-numbered child did I. It offers such a God-damn lot to us and I'm incredibly grateful, and again incredibly over excited.
I need a good flannel and a good lie down....

Also, did anyone tear up at the "And loved by millions of fans worldwide"
It was like a little shoutout or a little thank-you *sniffs*
"You paid money for this? On purpose?"

Hmm...maybe the signal thing...could be about River...and they have some kind of trigger... this would explain why she kicks Simon... and Jayne's "The only people she's a threat to is us on this boat."
But then again he never was a big River fan.

Can`t stop the signal is rather specific - River is involved, yes!

P1nkispunk, you're right. I watched the trailer as if I hadn't seen the series, and as a sci-fi fan only, it made me want to see the movie. That's so rare, trailers usually turn me OFF to a movie 'cause it's always same-o same-o, but Serenity's trailer screams originality! And effects that put Attack of the Clones to shame!! Technical brilliance can't beat creativity and a love of the project.
My only question: Greg Edmundson? Western music? No?

Nah, it's clearly Earth.
Check out 00:56 to see what I am talking about. You can see Florida, Cuba, the Yucatan Peninsula, etc...
I don't care, I'm still free.
