Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunite Events: As a reader of the books I couldn't wait to see this one. Then I saw it. 
They completely screwed up the storyline by shoving 3 of the books into one moive and as if that wasn't bad enough one of the last sences in the movie (beside not having happened how they portrayed it) was from the FIRST book!

Battlefield Earth. Definitely worst movie ever. It does make for a great Mystery Science Theatre 3000 movie to rag on with a large group. Two or three years ago at Dragon Con they played Battlefield Earth in a panel room and the 60 or so people in there just ripped it up. This is the only way to watch this box office bomb. I laughed until I had tears in my eyes.

That's bad, there are some great B&W films people are missing. But I once worked at a video store and had someone return Wizard of Oz because of the B&W. *shudder*

They didn't want to see an "old" movie. Which wasn't even the truth. My roommate was a huge fan of war movies, especially ones with flying in them. The simple truth was that they didn't want to watch a black and white movie. Which is a shame, because most people I know, who have given Arsenic and Old Lace a shot have not been disappointed. Not by the comedy, but by...well, I won't give anything away, but almost everyone was shocked by what they were seeing.
Arsenic and Old Lace...that's a movie!
One of my favorites is 'Gaslight.'
It's quite clear that the three of us share a love for great movies. How many threads or tag logs are full of us shouting names of must-see movies? Lots. I think I'll throw 'Life With Father' in the dvd player this morning,

Yep I agree with that short review of Love Actually...why oh why do my parents own that on DVD?
Erm...This may annoy some people but I really despised Mulholland Drive. I spend most of my time complaining that many (usually mainstream)film makers don't try hard enough to inject any meaning or mystery or thought into movies these days and that that was what was missing from all these terrible Blockbusters. (a friend of mine made me sit through "Be Cool" the other day and I was expecting it to be awful, but I was almost speechless at just HOW bad it was. *Tuts and mutters*)
After seeing Mulholland Drive I wondered if I was just really stupid, or that it meant absolutely nothing. I eventually worked it all out, but was just left exhausted. I'm a big fan of non linear plotting, and mystery and a bit of the "WHAT THE FUDGE!" factor, but this film seemed complete overkill to me - and in making it completely mysterious and weird and screwed up it completely forgot any sort of character development or emotional resonance. Once I worked out what had happened I realised I didn't even care. It wasn't a film such as a series of clever posey moments. I'm reluctant to watch anymore David Lynch...

Too true TWG. My nights of insomnia would have been a very miserable affair were it not for the late night black and white movie on the TV :)
Gaslight, Arsenic and Old Lace are ones I've not seen in years, I must really try gettting them.
I remember going to see 'Touch of Evil' when it was re-released and the cinema was pretty much empty... I couldn't believe it! And I was up in London aswell! Still I had a great time - felt like old Chuck was performing just for me :)... and what an intro!!!!!
