Its not hard to see that SNL has been lacking since the past I dont know 20 years. The truth is that some of the actors have been writing with the group and they have been runing out of characters Plus its not hard to see that they are desspreate for a big hit. There past few years has been not bad like mary kathrin gallagher or mango (at some points)or the two guys that dance to that to me unknown song but the sad basic truith is it never will be as good a the first five years with loveble characters like roseanne roseanne-a-danna and wild and crazy guys or the samuri. But we can only hope that the great writing will come back in time mabe by new writers new guests or new cast in that we can only hope

in case if the rapture you can have my car

Actually, I think SNL is very strong now.
The most recent episode opened with a brilliant sketch: Staging the selection of the next pope as a political debate between the likely candidates. Great satire. They have several terrific writers/performers in the current cast like Maya Rudolph, Amy Poehler, Darrell Hammond, Tina Fey and Will Forte. SNL has had low points before and probably will again. Let's just enjoy the good stuff while it lasts!

I don't have much to contribute to this thread. I just wanted to agree on how awsome Maya is. I just adore her, and I think she's the funniest person ever.
Okay, I'm done going fangirl.

SNL hasn't been consistently good since Carvey/ Farley/Hartman/Myers/Schneider (loathe him now, BTW)/Sandler/Spade (see Schneider)/Rock's year. Some good ones with Farrell/Kattan and that group. Anything with Norm MacDonald was crap. i miss Colin Quinn.

An escalator can never break. It can only become stairs. You would never seen an "Escalator temporarily out of order" sign, just "Escalator temporarily stairs. Sorry for the convenience."

People always latch onto and identify with things of their youth. That's why old people don't listen to contemporary music (i.e. that's why people are saying SNL was waaaay better 30 years ago, or 15 years ago, or 10 years ago, etc.).

Mal: "May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one."

So you're saying there is no such thing as quality, only perspective?

All due respect, but I don't think that's necessarily true. No matter what your age, some things were better then, some are better now, and some will be better tomorrow.

And somtimes bad is bad...

Did I say anything that contradicts that?

Harken: "Seems odd that you would name your ship after a battle you were on the wrong side of."
