Ah'm new too.
Firefly is playing now in New Zealand, pretty much as Joss intended. We got Serenity up front where it belongs and we're getting the episodes that weren't screened in the US. Only two to go though. 
Guess I'll have to save my pennies for the DVDs so I can watch 'em all again - including ep.2 which I missed first time around.
Ain't much of joiner when it comes to web boards, but for Firefly I'm making an exception.

PS: Ain't hardly scientific, but I found another way to show your support for the BDH's. Go to http://www.topdogcity.com/firefly5.htm and add a brick. (I'd use a disposable address.)

Welcome aboard JoeQPublic! Glad to have you w/ us. It's always a pleasure to greet new fans to the site.
We all enjoy reading how everyone came to discover the show. It is amazing how much the fanbase has grown since the DVD set came out. I am still amazed at how far we have come since we first heard Fox was cancelling the show. Now we have the DVD set, the movie coming out, and trading cards and action figures as well as novels set for release in late summer and early fall this year.
Not to go all sentimental an mushy, but I am really happy to be part of this fanbase and connected if only in some small way to Firefly/Serenity.

Glad to see another fan join up.
This just makes me realize how this show could have survived if Fox had gotten the word out properly. I really think that the marketing departments should work on internet advertising. Not on msn or anything. They should go out and find communities with similar fanbases (i.e. farscape) and advertise to them. Maybe that's too much to ask though.

I was just discussing with lochravin this morning about the diversity of the Firefly fan base. For those of you living out of the country, I’m in the US - Minnesota to be exact. And now I’m talking to someone in Korea (lochravin) New Zealand and the UK. I wonder if that was what Joss intended or if it’s a happy side effect.
And what BC said about the fan base isn’t just mush. It’s the pure, honest truth.
