Well, they might have to fudge the ages, but there's always Cassie Sandsmark (a.k.a. Wonder Girl).

Joss has indicated that he is going to be writing an origin film
with a younger actress:
http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1498869/03222005/story.jhtml
and the clips in the article tell a lot about what he wants to do...
here is a download for the second one
(which I think is the best one):

Lucy is too old as are about 90% of the actresses that have been mentioned on this and other boards. And every woman with a vague connection to Hollywood will eventually be mentioned in connection to this movie. If they aren't then their publicists should be fired.

And Morena, isn't little. She is 5'9". That isn't little in my book. Put some four inch heels on her and she will be 6'1" (look I can do math).

I think Morena could do it, although I do think she'd need a bit more muscle to really LOOK the part.

I don't know who's going to be WW or who I'd like to see as WW (but Morgan Freeman would be cool), but I feel that Morena just doesn't seem right. Granted her character was essentially a courtesan, but she seems to be more seductive and some other such type adjectives. She's just not what comes to mind when I think of a warrior woman. Gina Torres could definitely pull it off, though.

Now we have to be married. I'm in the family way.

After seeing Morena in Way Off Broadway, I know that Inara is not the limit of her abilities.

I would love Gina in the role too but the fan boys would and are have a heart attack at the suggestion that their wet dream isn't white and blue eyed.

It is all making me kinda ill.

By the time they get round to casting, Morena will probably be too old; how about Hunter Ansley Wryn ?

tlacook I'm with you
the unbelievable focus on the most trivial aspects
and reducting everyone involved to stereotypes

I'm just glad that Joss is in charge,
because we know that he can see that his BDH
can play more than one role in their lives.

I just hope that Joss is given the artistic freedom
to make the movie he envisions.

I don't think he would agree to direct if he hadn't been given some pretty sound assurances that he would be left alone.
