Google AI, citing JoBlo, Deadline and Euronews, says that the industry expects a 60% drop for weekend two, or around only $50 Million gross Domestically, after taking into account the frontloaded Nolan fans and presales.
That's seriously not good, people. The opening was not good. It may have come in higher than the industry was predicting in the week leading up to the release, even by quite a bit, but it's still not good.
I don't understand why the media decides to lie about things like this. There's already so much distrust in the media as it is, and whether The Odyssey reached Two Billion or didn't crack $100 Million is just so trivial and meaningless in the grand scheme of things. (* Truthfully, it's not meaningless at all on a grand scale when it comes to deciphering what the general mood of the people is, and it is why I was tracking it so relentlessly there for a few years before it told me what I wanted to know. But it's not worth wasting so much trust on for so long when there are always far more important things for them to lie to all of us about.)
Why does the media waste so much of their capital on covering for failures with the message in them?
And they do it so much less frequently in 2026 than they did in 2020, but for some reason they all decided to join back together in some horrific woke Voltron to defend this slop.
Is this the last stand?
Is this the hill that they all choose to die on?

A user HACKED Rotten Tomatoes on the asmongold subreddit (parsed the json data) and found the REAL REVIEW SCORE for Christopher Nolan's film The Odyssey and discovered that out of 886 active users only 498 rated it positivity leaving the true score around: 56.2%
A score of 97% is mathematically impossible (combined with faked ticket sales) and this is looking more and more like widespread FRAUD by the Hollywood Industry on a MASSIVE scale.

Interestingly enough, 56.2% is not far off from the Metacritic data which has normal reviewers (non critics/bots) which rate the film at 51%.

I am now forced to do the responsible thing and fess up to where I messed up, because until the weekend numbers come in, I've got no idea what is going on anymore.
I was recently informed by a Thursday version of Google AI that Tuesday's version of Google AI is full of shit and was "hallucinating". It then went into pretty great detail about how it would have came to the erroneous conclusion that it was only expected by the industry to gross in the area of $50 Million on Weekend 2. Because I remembered which sources it was citing and let them know that information along with telling it that it told me only $50 Million a few days ago, it was able to give me a perfectly reasonable explanation of how it would have drawn that incorrect conclusion.
These details are boring and I won't bother putting them here
I'm just disappointed in the experience and getting quite annoyed at how frequently it seems that this AI is just plain fucking wrong so often that it makes you question if anything it's ever said to you or that it will say to you in the future is correct...

Suffice it to say, the industry does, and at least since Tuesday has expected that The Odyssey will gross between $61 and $84 Million on Weekend two.
$61 Million alone isn't going to change much of what I've said already. We would have to see what's happening by the 3rd weekend to get a much clearer picture.
$84 Million is a different story.
I think with $84 Million, $625 Million is more than likely.
Some are saying this movie needs $700 Million actually to break even, but I have not yet seen anything in the winds that makes me raise the RoT multiplier beyond 2.5x. I'm not actively searching for things like this, mind, but I have no doubt if they are out there they would be unearthed for this movie eventually without me having to bother.
Until somebody convinces me otherwise, this movie only needs $625 Million to break even. It does me no good to myself or anybody else to just go with the higher number I heard because I like that number. That's what Democrat voters do to make themselves feel better about themselves all the time. My temporary dopamine high from yelling "Take that! Now you need to make $700 Million!" is meaningless.
The people who had dogs in the race know exactly what they needed on return for them to consider this a win. And they will take that knowledge they learned here and apply that the next time a Producer comes around and they may not be so free to part with their alms. And I would bet that number varies Greatly from person to person and entity from entity. Make fun of "Producer Credits" given as gifts to prima dona actors all you want, but a real Producer is a God among men. They're the ones who go around and get everyone to cough up the dough.
And I think for a very long time, they might not really have been needed. What, with all that free Venture Capital that was floating around everywhere after Obama put us on virtually 0% interest and then we just didn't fucking raise it back up for forever...
Think of all of the crap and fucking trash that has been made in the last 10 years. Does anybody believe for a minute that half of that shit would have been made if people had to call up friends and call in all their favors to get a movie or a TV show the funding it needed to even get a chance at the starting line?
Honestly... I think that's why Harvey Weinstein really went down. Because Obama dropped the interest to 0% and we just had no interest in bringing it back up from there.
