Americanization of these things is one of the worst things that can happen to them. Especially when it's put into the hands of either A) people who don't really give a shit, or B) people who have a Liberal agenda and have gotten away with completely bastardizing stories to their own means for far too long.

I'm all on board with limited Localization when it comes to translating things for a foreign audience. It simply has to take place because there are just basic cultural differences whose nuance wouldn't be easily explainable or even appropriate to elaborate on during the short-ish time frame of a video game or TV show or the very short time of a the length of a movie playing out. Then there are more abstract ideas like idioms and comedy (as in what one culture finds funny vs. what another culture finds funny). These things need to be accounted for and care needs to take place when they're addressed.

This isn't pre-internet 1990. There needs to be a deep collaboration between (in this example) Japan and the US. There needs to be a respectable amount of money invested in these efforts as well, to make sure that the translations make sense in the end, and that the absolute most of the original intent of the story makes the transition.

We are LONG past the days where "All Your Bases are Belong to Us" and "Conglaturations!!!!" are going to fly. The days where a bunch of suits on either side ran everything and did not give one single shit about how translations went in games that had very little story to begin with, and certainly weren't going to spend their free nights reading up on the back story of a 70s or 80s Japanime or graphic novel when it would eat into their cocaine time.

And now we're also past the time where stupid amounts of money were thrown at DEI hires who never should have gotten these jobs and never would have been able to write any of these stories on their own too. They have ruined so, so many English dubs for anime and video games over the years, and people didn't even know it until random Japanese citizens who were bilingual started coming out and saying "What the fuck? That's not what this story was about at all."

Let them tell their own stories. Pay decent people who actually care about the project decent wages to make sure that happens after a translation takes place.

Nobody wants some watered-down Americanized (Californicated) version of the original author's intent.
