I think it's high time we just abandon the big platforms and go back to Web 1.0 where there were tens of thousands of smaller websites like our second home here for every niche and hobby under the sun. Places where people with similar hobbies or the same interests in movies or books or TV shows can just hang out together without all the paid agents like Ted and Second coming in and harassing everyone.
I know this place and many other of these places had their share of politics, but just like we all did here back in the day, those who were always trying to ruin everyone else's day with politics were shamed back into their own version of the RWED and/or threatened with bans if they continued to talk politics and trash outside of the arena that was necessary to create so half the place didn't get banned.
The RWED was always a fucking toilet. We all know this. There is no denying it.
But overall?
FFF.net was a pretty amazing place when it was really kicking off.
I'm sad that I was drunk and lost in my own little world for so many years and didn't even realize how many people were leaving, and I was shocked to see how few remained when I finally got sober.
I had no idea how good we used to have it, and I spend every day of my life missing 20 years ago.
ETA:
As an aside, the version with Vanessa Carlton coming in to flesh it all out is the only way to listen to this song. In my opinion, she elevated what was a decent pseudo-remake to excellence and the definitive version of this song.

Yeah...
20 years ago. My fff.net birthday is coming up in a few weeks.
6/25/2006.
Seems like forever ago now.
If I could go back and live there, I would.
