Music Scores - the best suited to the Film/TV.

I remember an English teacher of mine in high school talking about the score of a film as being another character in the movie.
I'd like to think of the particularly good ones as arguably among the most important characters in the movie. If the music playing in the background, whether you are noticing it on a conscious and/or a subconscious level is heightening the immersion experience and putting you in the movie, then it is doing its job perfectly.
I like that OP brings up Indiana Jones specifically. I remember being huddled around my grandma's tiny 19" tube TV with my dad and my brothers getting lost in The Temple of Doom. It was my first Indy experience. I may have been 6 or 7 years old, and I was Indy. Several years later all 4 of us went to the theater and saw The Last Crusade in theaters and I got to be Indy all over again.
I don't think any of that would have been possible if not for the soundtrack.
Like really... None of it.
Because of copyright, you probably couldn't find videos of scenes from these movies with the soundtracks stripped out, but imagine watching something like Indiana Jones without any music.
It would still be cool to watch, and the action scenes would still kick ass, but the entire experience would be completely different, and I think everyone would just be watching as an outside viewer and the immersion just wouldn't be there.
I was just going to pop in to say I think the Seinfeld soundtrack nailed it, but wasn't expecting to find a deep post to reply to.

I clicked on that link expecting the Cheers theme song, and really hoping that they'd put the Friends theme song.
They did not disappoint on either count.
They're also completely wrong.
The radio version (the longer version) of the Friends theme song played on the radio relentlessly for about 3 years in the late 90's. I remember even having it on a tape I made from the radio, sandwiched between Del Amitri's Roll To Me and The Hook by Blues Traveler.
I'll give them the Sopranos though. I remember Mancow loved that song, had A24 on his show a couple of times and was trying to make that song a big hit. He'd play it a lot, but I never heard it on the radio anywhere else.
I'm surprised they didn't put Believe it or Not (I'm Walking on Air) from The Greatest American Hero on that list. I know that one got played on "adult contemporary" stations as late as the mid-90s, but if they put the Friends theme song on the list that one could be up here too. That one is probably too dated though, and most people even my age probably only know that song from George Costanza's answering machine.

I can't believe in Clown World 2020's that it hasn't become a pride anthem.
