All you've got left now is "But", you fuckin' butt-heads...

MSNOW: On Iran, Democrats thread the needle with a single word: ‘But’

Support for disrupting Iran’s regime, opposition to skirting Congress: Democrats are relying on a conjunction to navigate the political minefield.

The US Missile Defense Shortage is Worse than Imagined

So, what, exactly, is Trump's reason to attack Iran?

Nuclear weapons?
Ballistic missiles?
Protestors?
Regime change?
Democracy?
Make Iran great again?
Terrorism?
Women's right?
All of the above plus the kitchen sink?

Reminds me of the swirling reasons rationalizations gaslighting from GWB about Saddam.

Well I finally heard a reason that might make sense: World control of oil flow. Control the oil, control the world.
A last ditch effort at global domination.

I don't think it's going to work. It will cause a lot of damage and create chaos, tho, and possibly wipe out Israel and Gulf monarchies as viable nation states. If this is the death of the American empire, yanno what they say: A dying elephant tramples a lot of grass.

Sonar 21, huh?

https://sonar21.com/about/

Never heard of them, but they're not even trying to hide from you who they are...

Who is Larry C. Johnson?

Larry C. Johnson is a former CIA officer and intelligence analyst, and former planner and advisor at the US State Department’s Office of Counter Terrorism. As an independent contractor, he has provided training for the US Military’s Special Operations community for 24 years.

Now you're no longer a skeptic when the CIA tells you what you want to hear?

Having experienced how the CIA operates, he's not a fan.

There are a lot of former military, former intelligence officers, weapons inspectors, analysts etc who are critical of our "security" institutions.

Maybe he's one of them, maybe he isn't. Maybe he's with the NeoCons/NeoLibs, maybe he isn't.

Do you know anything about him? I've never heard of him or Sonar 21 before, but that doesn't mean anything.

My trust doesn't come easy, and when it comes to ex-alphabet agency employees it's going to be a lot harder to come by. With your average person able to use services like Grok to make AI videos that are getting increasingly harder to distinguish from reality, I have little doubt that our government is far beyond those capabilities and can probably make videos that people can't tell aren't real. Probably not only our government either.

So when I see sites like this, or any of the various ones that anybody posts in the Russia threads that claim to know about individual actions in the theater that nobody is hearing about in the Legacy Media, I'm going to be very skeptical of them.

This is why I keep telling everyone to stop getting hung up in all the day-to-day stories about everything. Why bother posting articles or videos about low-level court cases that you know full well are going to be appealed and seen by a higher court, and maybe one day SCOTUS itself? Especially when the article that was posted said this would be the case, but nobody bothered to read what was inside the headline... and if they did, most of them didn't bother reading more than one paragraph or three.

How many articles have you and Ted and Second posted about individual actions between Russia and Ukraine now for just over 4 years now? How many of them have mattered? Who cares who chips in what money, or which minor victory was won or lost, or who is saying they're pulling out of supporting either side when nothing ever happens in the big picture? It's like they've been playing tug-of-war for 4 years now and each side has always managed to gain back as many steps as the other side took away from them just a week or month prior. What's the point of even bothering with any of it?

Finalities are all that matter.

Things like SCOTUS decisions. Actual election results instead of weeks or months of posting individual polls that say what you want them to say and ignoring the aggregate of polls. What Venezuela looks like a few months from now. A year from now. The same with Iran. Maybe even Cuba and Greenland at some point.

I guess my point is that about 90% of the posts that are made here in the RWED don't matter at all in the long-term. And of those that even do, the people who posted them almost never bring them back up on the rare occasion that they actually amounted to something one day. The only people besides me who really does that here are JSF with his statistics/unemployment threads, and Jaynez, with at least 30% of his necroposting actually being relevant to the original thread he brought back from 12 years ago.

Just relax. Let's see what happens with Iran.

I'm not getting into any conversation with anybody about this being another forever war when we're only one week into it.

Let's talk in a month or two.

Personally, I don't think Iran is even going to be in the news cycle 2 months from now.
