Listening to analysts who've been consistently right about military actions and geopolitics (NOT Trump or Hegseth)... colonels, former CIA, USMC intelligence, etc. ... they universally say that Iran was never a threat, that this wasn't about nukes or protestors, that this was all about Israel, and that it's a terrible miscalculation.
I learned a lot from Scott Ritter, USMC intelligence and UN weapons inspector, who spent a long time deployed in the Mideast doing targeting, and then as a UN weapons inspector in Iraq, explained why Khameni allowed himself to be killed (he was conducting business in his home, not hiding in a bunker) and why it matters.
Suffice to say Trump ignited a regional war and potential revolts in the monarchies, all for Netanyahu's benefit. And that while Trump wanted a SHORT war and quick victory, the one thing he can't control is Iran's response.
If Israel is lucky, it'll survive, and if the (fat, corrupt, debauched) Gulf monarchies tyrannies are lucky, THEY'LL survive.

It didn't (hell... it's as if everyone in the world already forgot about that one already too). Trump's initial strike against Iran in June of last was going to start WWIII. It didn't. That people of Venezuela both in Venezuela and in America weren't celebrating the fall of Maduro. They were. That people of Iran both in the country of Iran and anywhere else worldwide weren't celebrating the fall of the Ayatollah. They are.
For being Mrs. Contrarian about everything, they've got you in complete agreement with Ted and Second and Jaynez right now. Although it might be for different reasons, the end result is the same. All 4 of you are singing only moderately different versions of the same tune right now. You practically make up a choir together.
And the paid agitators in America that are out protesting are holding up the exact same signs today that they were holding up for Maduro and Venezuela with the name of the country changed. With people filmed joining both of those protests with shopping carts full of these signs to hand out to anybody else in the streets (both those being paid and those stupid enough to be marching every weekend without getting paid).
There's not a fucking sensible person who can say that the fall of the Ayatollah is a bad thing, yet the Legacy Media and lefty idiots out protesting are wrapping themselves up like pretzels trying to defend their fucked up logic and make you think there is something wrong with it while telling you the Ayatollah was bad out the other sides of their face.
I think the people YOU are listening to right now are just bad actors that are really part of the same group that has maintained the status quo for generations now. Trump Opens the Pandora’s Box of Assassination
Killing anyone without a trial, let alone a foreign leader, involves a moral choice.

On Saturday, the United States, in a joint operation with Israel, killed Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. For the first time in the postwar era, Washington has succeeded in killing a foreign leader—shattering a precedent that had been sustained for decades by a mix of moral, political, and logistical concerns.
Fifty years ago, in February 1976, President Gerald Ford signed Executive Order 11905, which directed that “no employee of the United States Government shall engage in, or conspire to engage in, political assassination.” There should be no tears in the democratic world for Khamenei, who for four decades oversaw a repressive state with terroristic tentacles that extended throughout the world. But it is worth looking at why presidents of both political parties have long been wary of the state-sponsored killing of foreign leaders.
As a U.S. representative, Ford was a member of the Warren Commission, which investigated the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The experience affected him profoundly. During a site visit to the Texas School Book Depository, the members of the committee took a rifle similar to the one used by Lee Harvey Oswald and looked through its scope at the traffic circulating below. “Kennedy had been my friend,” Ford later recalled. “The thought we were reconstructing his assassination sent a chill down my spine.”
When Ford learned as president that the CIA had engaged members of the Mafia in a failed effort to kill Fidel Castro during the Dwight Eisenhower and Kennedy years, he was dismayed and quickly decided to form a special commission to investigate abuses by the intelligence community and suggest reforms. Only days after announcing the formation of the Rockefeller Commission in January 1975, Ford accidentally shared at an off-the-record lunch with executives and editors from The New York Times that his concern about abuses involved assassinations. While awkwardly trying to make a point about the continuing importance of secrecy, Ford told his guests that he had learned of some CIA activities that, if made public, would undermine the reputation of his Cold War predecessors. When asked for an example, the president absentmindedly responded, “Like assassinations.” Although the Times respected the ground rules, this was too juicy not to leak.
Within a month, the president’s comment became news, and public reaction to it and to earlier reporting about the CIA by the journalist Seymour Hersh sparked two congressional investigations into the assassination plots—the better-known panel was led by Senator Frank Church. Despite his unintentional leak, Ford was already predisposed to doing something to end this dark presidential legacy. “Although none of these assassinations had been carried out,” Ford later wrote in his memoirs, “the fact that government officials had even considered them was distressing.” A year later, Ford signed the executive order to make sure such operations didn’t happ

Neither President Donald Trump nor the Trump administration has publicly used that word – assassination – to describe the killing of Khamenei. They have offered multiple reasons for attacking Iran – lack of faith in Iran’s leaders in negotiations over Iran’s plans for a nuclear program; the potential for Iran to develop anti-ballistic missiles; Iran’s sponsorship of terror groups in other countries, the recent killing of protesters in its streets.
When Trump announced the strikes in a video posted to his social media account at 2:30 a.m. ET Saturday, he said, without evidence, that Iran posed an “imminent” threat. But in a phone conversation with ABC News’ Jonathan Karl, Trump offered a more personal reason for killing Khamenei.
“I got him before he got me. They tried twice, well I got him first,” Trump said to Karl.

“If you are going to try by this kind of means to remove a foreign leader, then who is going to take his place running that country, and are you essentially better off as a matter of practice when it is over than you were before?”
Helms pointed to the assassination of Diem in Vietnam as an example.
“That whole exercise turned out to the disadvantage of the United States,” Helms said. At the time he made those comments, in the years before the Islamic Revolution, Helms was the US ambassador to Iran.
“It isn’t because I have lost my cool, or because I have lost my guts, it simply is because I don’t think it is a viable option in the United States of America these days,” Helms said of his opposition to assassination.
Three successive US presidents, Republican Gerald Ford, Democrat Jimmy Carter and Republican Reagan would each sign executive orders making it illegal for the US government to engage in assassination.

'God’s divine plan': US soldiers say commanders told them they're fighting for 'Armageddon'

People are growing increasingly uneasy as President Donald Trump's attacks on Iran are looking more and more like they could be part of a right-wing religious fanatic's fantasy for the apocalyptic.
The Cradle Media's Jonathan Larsen wrote that American soldiers were given a pep-talk about the war in Iran. A U.S. combat-unit commander told them that the attack is part of “God’s divine plan." He said that President Donald Trump was “anointed by Jesus” for the specific purpose to ignite Armageddon.
“U.S. Troops Were Told Iran War Is for 'Armageddon,' Return of Jesus Advocacy group reports commanders giving similar messages at more than 30 installations in every branch of the military," Larsen wrote.
The comments come as part of a lawsuit brought by the Military Religious Freedom Foundation; however, it is only one of "110 lawsuits brought in 48 hours from over 40 units across 30 installations," the report said. The complaints came from Christians, a Muslim and a Jewish soldier.
The Christian nationalist theory that Israel has a God-given right to much of the Middle East is one espoused by U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee. In a speech at a Christian Zionist church in Jerusalem in December, Huckabee conveyed his " purpose is to convert Israeli Jews to belief in Jesus in order to bring about the End Times," explained Religion Dispatches.
The concept is bad for anyone seeking peace in the Middle East, one 2024 report by Forward explained.
The sect of Christianity that Huckabee believes in holds that if they are able to remove Palestinians from the Holy Land, then Jesus Christ will return. He believes in “dispensational premillennialism,” which Forward describes as a belief that “the Rapture will come,” and deliver all evangelicals to Heaven as Israel is invaded by the armies of the world. It will cause Armageddon and prompt the return of Jesus Christ.
The language is making some fearful that the war waged wasn't really about Iran never obtaining nuclear weapons, which Trump claimed he destroyed last summer. It's a holy war, desperate to force Armageddon.
"Maybe it’s a bad idea to put people in charge of government who are eager for the rapture," lawyer and self-described nerd John Collins commented.
"Love when I'm in the military and my boss is, like, 'Time for Armageddon!'" commented author and journalist Emily St. James.
Writer and former Cato Institute policy analyst Will Wilkinson wrote, "Personally, I don’t think we should bring about Armageddon."
"One thing about the U.S., we definitely do not have insane religious zealots in charge," said Heidi N. Moore, previously of the Wall Street Journal business side.
Writer and elections lawyer at the Cato Institute, Walter Olson, quoted a line from the 1965 song "So Long, Mom (A Song for World War III)" with lyrics by Tom Lehrer: "And this is what he said on/ His way to Armageddon.”
