They took my food stamps away from me years and years ago. In Indiana, they have a specific threshold of how high the unemployment rate could get to before they allow anybody under their poverty percentage to apply. Any adult under 56 can't qualify for food stamps unless they're working 20 hours per week (which is what they're going to do to my health insurance soon, but was never a rule since at least the mid 2010's when I'd first applied and put myself on a several year waiting list).

I probably could have done the SNAP again during Covid. I didn't though. I'd have been off of it again for a few years by now even if I had.

That's the thing that really gets under my skin. I got on the health insurance anywhere from 4 to 8 years before a ton of people who didn't qualify suddenly qualified, post-Covid. Then I get a sickness that I can never recover from and is very expensive to treat. Then the new guy comes in and is going to change the rules so most of those married couples with kids that used to make too much money to qualify for the healthcare get to keep theirs, but because I'm one of those no-good single dudes with no kids I'm a fucking deadbeat and I need to go back to the retail salt mines and eat a shit sandwich every single day.

Not because I need the money, at least any time soon. But because I need the insurance to live. Paying for the treatment out of pocket would bankrupt me very quickly. Buying my own health insurance every year would increase my yearly expenditures to 300% of what they currently are.

Have you heard about TrumpCare? They are still working out the details (like Rick Scott).
This would have benefitted you years ago, when you were screwed by Obamacare - The Unaffordable Care Act.
However, market forces will be reintroduced back into the current mess, which should drive prices down due to competition, supply and demand. You would have better benefit if having an employer, but the end stage of lower prices - and cost transparency, with you choosing what to purchase - should still help you. The savings are calculated at 70% less than current. But, again, that would include the process of employer payments. Didn't hear clear numbers for unemployed.

FWIW ...and in the interest of transparency... whoever administers SNAP just busted a Muslim gang committing SNAP fraud. IDK exactly ehere, Dearborn possibly, but apparently a Muslim gang was extorting SNAP money from the "Muslim community" and sending it to Somalia, including terrorist organizations including al Shebaab

Not sure how you convert SNAP benefits to cash... unless you sell the food to someone else?

You sell them to somebody else who will use them for food. I'm sure a lot of them will trade for straight 1/1 cash value and the ones handing the currency out still make out on that deal because there is no sales tax when using SNAP. It wouldn't matter in my state because on almost all food there isn't a sales tax, but that's not the case at all in many states.

Even if they sold off SNAP for 20 cents on the dollar (because they didn't even need it in the first place, who cares right?), it's probably worth the risk for them if they've got enough scam accounts... or at least they thought it was and maybe doing something that stupid and really expanding their scheme to seriously unavoidable heights once that hubris kicked in finally took them down

Anyway, that's what I read. Maybe it's all hype to show is that the Trump admin is "on the job".
Heard the same thing from my old man earlier today, but there was more to the story, or so I've heard...

He said that he heard Trump says the entire Somali refugee program is coming to an abrupt end. But I don't know what that even means. Are we kicking out every one of them? Or are we going to let anywhere from 500,000 to 1 Million Somalians who don't belong here just stay?

This has been going on since Jimmy Carter passed the Refugee Act and gave the sitting President to have exclusive decision-making of how many refugees we let in per year and from which countries, or in other words, it's been going on every single day of my life, no matter which party has been in charge.

We, The People, have never had a vote on any of this. Not even a referendum. No American citizen in the last 45 years ever voted on whether or not to flood our countries with literally over 30 MILLION people that don't belong here.

And even between the years of 2017 and 2024, we've since let more than 60,000 additional Somalis in. There are now estimated between 100,000 and 150,000 Somalis in Minneapolis and St. Paul alone.

That's anywhere from 1/8th to around 1/6th of American-Hating "refugees" making up the population of Minnesota's most populous areas. From zero to that in only a single generation. And a lot of the old ones have American borns underneath their belt that are running for politics and voting for nobody but themselves.

This is a literal takeover of our nation, not just by Somalis, of course. And we're getting to that point where there are enough here they've decided to take it public and are now going to start taking over our Blue cities and the suburbs. They've been biding their time on this for decades now.

What can I say?

You asked for it. You got it. Toyota.

Hope the Liberal Karen's of the Boomer Generation are happy. Pat yourselves on the back. You did this.

They were using their Autism scam to rake in the cash. Opened Fake Autism centers, for only Somali kids, sending $200M to al-shebab in 2024 alone.

As cheap as I am? The only thing I'd be paying for out of pocket would be the insulin and the needles. No emergency shots. No monitors. Not even a pinprick monitor. At that point, the $35 insulin during Biden* would probably help big time if it's even real, and the only thing I'd need 70% off would be needles. I'd probably be pretty high sugar most of the time and die 10 or 15 years earl, but I'd know by feeling if I was getting dangerously low and it wouldn't be immediate.

I could dig up prices by tonight, but I believe the last time I checked between insulin, the pods, the sensors and transmitters and other periphery stuff, it was somewhere in the area of $1,500 to $1,800 per month for the scrips. Not paying for that out of pocket even if it were $70 off.

See... I get fucked here because in most states I could file for ACA. But Indiana did HIP as an extension of Medicaid instead, and unless things have changed I don't believe I'm able to file for ACA here.

So I'm kind of fucked if they keep HIP for all those people they added after me, but they kick anybody off who isn't working.

I won't have the option to file for ACA where the Federal subsidy would cover most of it.

1,000,000% agree.
Quote:

Liberal judges who decide not to jail violent career criminals and sadistic psychopaths ought to be held liable when the felons attack innocent citizens.

Two horrendous, unprovoked attacks on helpless young women on public transit in recent weeks would never have happened if the legal system had done what it’s designed to do.

Instead, BLM-inspired reparatory justice has endangered the most vulnerable among us — women, children, the elderly and disabled. We pay police and judges to keep evil and dangerous predators away from weak and defenseless innocents. Yet radical Democrats who have taken over blue cities are hellbent on a destructive ideological crusade to defund the police, close the jails and install obedient judges who side with the perpetrator over the victim.

And yet law-abiding citizens who dare to try to defend themselves — or gallantly protect others, as in the case of good Samaritan Daniel Penny — are the ones arrested, prosecuted and even sent to jail. Queens senior citizen Charles Foehner has just been sentenced to four years in jail for gun offenses after shooting dead his mugger.
‘Barbaric’

Two cases in the last three months illustrate the moral inversion of law and order that Democrats have instituted under the cover of COVID and the anti-cop George Floyd protests of 2020.

Bethany MaGee, 26, was severely burned on her face and body when she was doused in gasoline and set on fire on Chicago’s L train last week in a what authorities have called a “barbaric and premeditated” attack by a repeat felon who had 72 arrests on his rap sheet, including aggravated arson and multiple felony battery convictions.

The suspect, Lawrence Reed, 50, reportedly yelled, “Burn alive, bitch!” as he set MaGee alight.

Reed had been deemed too dangerous to stay in the locked psychiatric wing of a Chicago hospital where he allegedly attacked a social worker and knocked her unconscious, causing a severe concussion, an eye injury and a broken tooth.

So Cook County Judge Teresa Molina-Gonzalez let him out on the streets in August with an ankle monitor, trusting him to abide by the curfew she set.

Of course he didn’t.

According to court transcripts obtained by Chicago crime website CWBChicago, the prosecutor objected to releasing Reed, warning that electronic monitoring would not protect “the [social worker] victim or the community from another vicious, random, and spontaneous attack.”

But Molina-Gonzalez blithely replied: “I can’t keep everybody in jail because the state’s attorney wants me to.”

According to CWBChicago, at the time he allegedly set MaGee ablaze, Reed had already violated his curfew for 12 hours — with impunity, as he had done multiple times previously.

Now he’s been charged with terrorism offenses, but it’s too late for MaGee.

An animal lover and churchgoer, she is from a close family in small-town Indiana who have requested privacy while she remains gravely ill in the hospital. Her social media posts show a young, pretty woman with long, sun-kissed hair, cuddling a cat, and smiling in family photos alongside her two brothers.

Her life will never be the same.

The attack comes just three months after a similar unprovoked murder on public transit in Charlotte, NC, when a violent repeat felon slashed the throat of Iryna Zarutska, a 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee on her way home from her job in a pizza shop.

Just like Reed, the suspect, Decarlos Brown Jr., 34, is a career criminal with a long rap sheet, including assault and armed robbery. Like Reed, he has been diagnosed with severe mental illness.

Like Reed, he was treated with kid gloves by a Democrat-controlled legal system determined to make up for past injustices against blacks by applying racial

My two cents, I think that's not really a fair assessment of Sigs, JSF.

She's brave enough to still call herself a Democrat in 2025, but I've never had the idea that she votes for them much, if at all, save maybe on the local level?

Her stance on things like Covid, although we have our disagreements about the subject, are at least moored in reality, and I feel she's made it perfectly clear that she was not in favor of any sort of mandates like the Biden* Administration unconstitutionally tried putting down on The People during the worst of it all.

It's my opinion that Sigs is pretty based and grounded, overall. She's managed to rein me in on more than one occasion when I start getting a little too riled up over something, even if I don't acknowledge that fact at all.

I'm not going to tell you not to attack people, because who would I be to not be leading by example there... But you are the type to constantly be looking for a fight (ask me how I know), and I think in your effort to do so you make a lot of personal attacks in your comments that don't reflect the greater reality of the situation at hand.

You've called me a Libtard no less than a dozen times over the years since my sobriety in 2017, for instance.

Outside of whatever disagreement we were currently having on an issue, I don't really how anything I've ever really done or said on these boards could ever conceivably lead anyone to believe that I'm a Liberal.

I don't remember you at all from my first few years here when I as 100% against pretty much everything GWB was doing (or during my subsequent drinking problem), so maybe some of it stemmed from your memory of me back when there were a couple thousand people posting here and we all just noticed who we noticed and pretty much ignored everything else as noise.

We're never going to agree on everything. But I would say that overall Sigs is much more in line with you than she is anybody like Ted or Second on a majority of issues. I don't know why you choose to always go to "Fuckin' Liberal" every time somebody doesn't agree with something you say. If you were here everyday like Ted was, I think I'd hear somebody call somebody else a Libtard as often as I hear somebody being called a Nazi, is all I'm saying.

Democrats’ Calls For Violence Are Succeeding

https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2025/11/democrats-calls-for-vio
lence-are-succeeding.php

Quote:

As I have written before, I don’t know whether Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who shot two National Guardsmen in Washington, D.C., killing at least one, is 1) a raving lunatic, 2) a devout Muslim–witnesses said that he shouted “Allahu Akbar” as he murdered Americans–or 3) a sucker who fell for Democratic Party talking points. The fact that it is hard to distinguish among these alternatives is revealing. In all likelihood, at least two of the foregoing categories apply.

More broadly, we can see that the Democrats’ war on law enforcement is succeeding. It has been focused mostly against America’s immigration laws, which Democrats hate but don’t have the votes to repeal. Democrats have viciously attacked U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, denouncing its agents as a modern-day “Gestapo,” and trying at every turn to interfere with their work. Most recently, Oregon Governor Tina Kotak has threatened to criminally prosecute ICE employees for doing their jobs. As a legal matter, that threat is absurd. But the real threat lies underneath–the threat that people who are deranged and/or unusually loyal to the Democratic Party will be emboldened to try to kill ICE agents.

That threat is deadly serious:

Assaults on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have skyrocketed 1,150% so far this year compared to the last year of the Biden administration — with nearly 250 attacks recorded since President Trump took office.

The disturbing surge comes amid a climate of heightened danger for immigration authorities, including stalking, death threats, online doxxing and outright assaults, which the Department of Homeland Security says is being encouraged by lefty politicians opposed to Trump’s illegal immigration crackdown.

That is quite a record–a 1,150% increase. Congratulations, Democrats! The same applies to National Guardsmen who have been deployed to bring peace to violent cities, and who have been uniformly denounced by Democratic politicians. We saw the result in the murder of Sarah Beckstrom and the grievous wounding of Andrew Wolfe. When one of America’s two leading parties issues a call for violence (“resistance” to the “Gestapo”), the results are predictable, and surely were both foreseen and intended by leaders of the Democratic Party.

This is where we find ourselves in 2025 America: insurrection has been normalized–we haven’t even gotten to the Seditious Six!–with fatal consequences.

Fuck you, Democrats.

You're fucking done. America hates you.
