What part do you object to?

The part where we foolishly remove the filibuster right now so the Democrats are free to do what they've always wanted to do everybody else the next time they're in power. Or whoever else is in their place by then. Maybe a 3rd Generation Somali or Muslim "Democratic-Socialist" who is just dying right now to write Sharia Law into American Federal Law with his (or her) executive powers, after being elected our President in 2048, perhaps?

With no Senate voted in on the other side with any power to do anything about it at all.

"Hello, my Fellow Americans. You remember the Gulf of America thing? That was so funny, wasn't it? I love jokes. I'm told that my 1st generation grandfather had lived half of his life before he came here not ever hearing a joke and it took him years to figure out what humor was. Isn't that so silly? I love jokes. It's always been one of my favorite things about living in America.

And America, I have a joke for you. I call it Engulf America.

With the signing of this Executive Order, it is now illegal nationwide for any woman to be outside past curfew, which it already is on the east half of the country. Any woman found outside without face covering while being escorted by a man will be arrested on site..."

Maybe you didn't read that part.

But if you didn't miss it, I was calling people like Ted and Second stupid assholes any time they brought up issues like this, or packing the supreme court with justices, or ending the electoral college and going to a straight popular vote, or more recently the idea that crazy leftists have been floating around about finally giving up on pretending any of this means anything at all by going FULL REALITY TV and having us all voting by fucking phone.

I'm going to say the exact same goddamned thing to people on the other side of the aisle using fear tactics of their own to try to get everyone on their side onboard now with cheering on a terrible, America-wrecking idea that everyone with half a working brain knows it is never a good idea to do, at any time, no matter who is in power.

Stuff they know... but sadly not too many are still brave enough to speak the truth instead of sitting back and just going with the flow because most everything else is going your way now. "It's my side doing it, so it's okay." Not that long ago, in a world that no longer exists, that was once the slogan for the Democratic Party for many years. That's all I've ever heard from people for the last 20 or so straight fucking years, no matter who is in power, and I'm getting pretty fuckin' tired of hearing it.

Put another way... outside of stupid assholes, there are only two types of people who would EVER actually pull the trigger on any of these asinine ideas.

1. People who (believe they) are absolutely sure that they're doing and will have done everything possible in the world to ensure that they are always the winning side from here to eternity and that these new powers they just gave themselves will never be used against them.

2. People who are desperately clinging to power they feel is slipping away from their grasps, even if everyone that is looking on doesn't yet realize what you're feeling or what you actually know yet. The last desperate attempt to keep that power that maybe only you realize for some reason is truly slipping away... maybe this time for good. Some known by very few upcoming event that is going to see it all crumbling down if you don't do something, anything right now. Even if it means that once you do this there is no going back from it and that our country will never be America again once you cross that line?

So I suppose I should revise my initial statement in the thread title.

Scott Bessent is eithe

Do with that concept what you will...

I hope that clears things up.

Didn't he clearly stated that Libtards can still end filibuster next time they are in control? Just like they already did under Harry Reid. Without any regard to what conservatives do now.

Well, first off I have probably added a lot more since you quoted and replied to that post. I never know with you if I have 5 minutes, 5 days or 5 weeks... or maybe even once or twice 5 years between a post of mine and an answer back from you, so my bad on that one. Maybe you want to go back and read the bit at the top...

As for your reply, I don't give one single fucking shit that he said it. It doesn't make it true.

If it were true THEY ALREADY WOULD HAVE DONE IT.

It would have been done already. Harris would have won everything. Our completely unchecked congress would have just kept flooding the boarders but making people temporarily forget about that long enough to vote for them by say, giving everyone another $3,000 freebie in return for their vote like they did the last fucking time, but this really might be the last fucking time, if you catch my drift.

Maybe the next time isn't the last time, but one of these times is going to be the last time.

There is enough opposition in there right now at any given time to keep either side from doing this without somehow managing to get people from the other side to defect.

If either side ever manages to do this, it's over for us as a country. Fucking tug-of-war game with 275 or so people on either side, trying to keep their side from falling in the mud where all the rest of us are drowning. Just yanking us back and forth every 4 years so fast that our necks break along the way and we don't realize how much deeper into shit and debt both sides continue to get us into every 4 years, without fail.

Ending the filibuster is a Pyrrhic victory for one and for all. We all lose. Forever.

Because there isn't a goddamned one of them in office or the media that you can trust about anything. They've all been lying to us, every day, all the time, about even stuff that doesn't matter. Because if they only bothered lying to us about the things that matter, than we'd have a much narrower window of focus than when we're lied to by either side about everything all the time.

I was wondering if you were aware of the change in filibuster in the 70s.
Before that, they would actually be required to filibuster with a long speach. But then they changed it so any Senator would merely say I'm going to filibuster, and not need to actually do a verbal filibuster.
Many say that should be changed.

I agree. Bring that back too. I don't care if you allow more than one person to do a rally and they pass off a baton to each other.

Give these idiots and assholes plenty more time to say something stupid too, when they're abusing the filibuster on the ridiculous shit that nobody wants. Make them talk about things they intend to do that the majority of the American Public would be against while they're doing it.

I didn't mean to direct that hostility toward you if it comes off that way. I'm just genuinely sick of it all. In one year I've watched a lot of people cave on things they've said were important to them, and when we start having Democrats telling everyone "YOU NEED TO PICK A FUCKING SIDE" and Republicans on the other trying to change the very rules in their favor that the Democrats were trying to change 4 years ago when we were all against them doing it. And worse than that are the voters, even people I know, abandoning those things because they believe they're getting what they want. Just like the Democrats did 4 years ago.

In a way I envy people like them, whichever side they're on. Somehow they still maintain hope, however misguided.

I should have known better. Unless I'm wrong and there are some really amazing things to come, I'm not going to have anybody to vote for in 2028. Just a good memory, people to vote against, and a hope that enough of them still have good memories too and how much worse that bad can get in just 4 years and that the economy is at least doing well enough that they're able to make the right choice...

Meanwhile...

Where's RFK and what's he doing? Has anybody been looking into Fauci? Why has Rand Paul been absolutely silent for an entire year about anything, at least as far as I know? I'm assuming he's still alive, right? Where are the Epestein files? Are you really telling us now they're a hoax and believing that, or are you holding onto them for your own personal gain? Why aren't we ending H1B visas entirely? Why are we removing less illegals than Joe Biden* did, despite the fact we're not letting any new ones in anymore? What happened to Patel and what has he been up to? Where did all that DOGE savings go after you laid off hundreds of thousands of people and took away my medical coverage? Oh... right. Israel needs more weapons. Ukraine needs more weapons. We need more weapons. We're going to add $200 BILLION more per year to our already insane military budget with your health insurance, and we're also going to add another $5 Trillion to the deficit over the next 10 years while we're doing it. "What are we spending all this extra money on? We're spending it on you'd better shut the fuck up and like it, that's what we're spending it on."

Oh... maybe we'll add even more to our debt by giving everyone a $2,000 "Tariff Dividend" and firing up our never-ending money printers. Who gives a shit? let inflation destroy everything in the long-term as long as we get reelected today. It's their great-grandchildren's money at this point. They probably won't ever even meet each other with the healthcare they're going to be getting in retirement anyway.

......

I mean, it sounds absolutely terrible that just recently we, as a people, have collectively breached $1 Trillion in credit card debt. Nearly the worst possible debt to get yourself into outside of loan sharks off the street once you've let it get out of control. But that's chump change. We'll be going at least that much into debt every single year for the rest of our lives as a country, "covering" ONLY our absolutely out-of-control military spending on a tab. And you know it won't be long until they raise military debt spending again.

Meanwhile, on Main Street...

When did they last raise the minimum wage? Right. 2009. Barack Obama's first year in office. 16 years ago. The state minimum wage in Indiana remains at only $7.25 per hour in 2026, the year of our lord's $3.05 per gallon average, right after the exact same fucking average price of gasoline 12 months ago to this day.

I wonder how many times Congress has given themselves raises since 2009, and how much that's cost the taxpayer since then.

Hello new boss. Same as the old boss.

And really.... can you blame them? Even Rand Paul gets to sit there every year and be the symbolic figurehead of what little remains good and right with politics. He's always ole' reliable who will fight for us little guys and be the one person there who will vote against giving himself that yearly raise... but has he ever refused it after it passed?

I literally don't know the answer to that.

Does he give it all to charity every year? Or maybe he just gives part of it away and talks himself into justifying whatever that year's inflation was into the number because, that's fair, right? I mean nobody else gets that treatment, but if life were fair for everyone and we lived in a true meritocracy, that's how yearly raises would work for the worst performers so at least they stayed on even ground from year to year, and the top talent like me (Paul) would be getting even larger raises and bonuses than this, so I'm not doing anything wrong here. I voted against this.

Unless I'm an uneducated fool on the topic of Rand Paul, which I admit that I probably could be, I don't see him making a big stink about congress giving themselves more of our money every year after it happens is all I'm saying.

Everything is totally broken now, and it has been for a long time. I was happy about a lot of things going on when everything was going on. But things really aren't going on anymore. And I think that's why everyone has gotten as insanely tribal as they've become... everybody can feel it. Even if they won't vocalize it, or they don't vocalize it, but in a way that justifies their entire worldview and only leaving as few tiny plot holes to the story they have chosen to go with and get behind.

Things are broken... But not the usual way we're always bitching about back and forth this time... and I'm just a little worried that there might not be any real way of fixing any of it this time. And most of one half of the country is going to argue that this person and these people were COMPLETELY responsible for every wrong turn down the path while the other side does the equal and opposite. And then they just continue to keep one-upping each other as we've been doing for years now.

Kinda like a 2-player version of The Adventures of Sisyphus. Voted by every gaming magazine as the most boring PVP MMO and largest video game failure in the history of eSports.

My single hope at this point is that some promises miraculously get kept by this time next year or even two and the economy really stars magically soaring after all of the tariffs and foreign investments come rolling in to save the day and we can all live another 10 years of ignorance is bliss like we did when Bill Clinton's presidency started.

It will feel pretty great for a while to taste that again if it happens.

But foreign investment comes at a price too, buddy.

6ix, you underestimated.

The total credit card debt in the U.S. is approximately $1.233 trillion as of the third quarter of 2025, according to data from the Federal Reserve. This amount represents a significant increase and has been rising consistently.

Sounds terrible, doesn't it? But not compared to the National Debt, which goes ever upward because all Congressional Republicans (and a few dozen Democrats) force tax collection ever downwards for short-term political advantages. "I gave you a tax cut! Reelect me!"

October 01, 2025 - Total debt increased by $2.17 trillion to $37.64 trillion in FY2025: Debt held by the public increased by $1.97 trillion to $30.28 trillion. Intragovernmental debt increased by $202.4 billion to $7.36 trillion.
