There's about to be a tax revolt in Cook County. Particularly among the blacks.
Looks like overall, Cook County's property taxes are going up 17%, but in low income neighborhoods it's going up over 100% and sometimes doubling or even tripling. And that November bill comes in right before Christmas.

They knew they couldn't possibly milk anymore out of the suburbs, so now they've finally gone and raised the taxes in places like Englewood to where the rest of the county is because they're out of fucking options.

To be fair, the median property tax bill in Englewood was only $609 last year. Even when I fought like hell the first time to lower my property taxes, I got them down from $2,400 to around $875. But that was maybe 14 years ago now? I had to doublecheck the source because I didn't believe that anybody in Illinois had property taxes that low.
In the worst hit-houses, they'll now be paying right around what I'm paying now after fighting them a second time, or around $1,800.
The average property tax bill in Crook County is just under $5k, and that number is reduced because of low taxed houses in the bad neighborhoods are.
Out in places like Orland Park, I know people who own houses where the property tax has now gone over $30k per year (McMansion territory).

The American experiment in egalitarian, multiethnic democracy fills MAGA intellectuals with anxiety, if not loathing. As Field notes, they often express undisguised hostility toward women, sexual minorities, the “woke Marxists” of the left, and the cultural elites of the “soulless managerial class.”

Her exodus, as she tells it, began in 2010, when she was a fifth-year graduate student, during a lavish banquet at the University of Virginia where she was seated next to an important member of the host organization’s staff, who described meeting First Lady Michelle Obama: “Very tall, very impressive. I’d really like to fuck her.” Field excused herself to go to the restroom. Gazing in the mirror, she wondered: “What on earth am I doing here?”
She didn’t flee entirely. In the ensuing years she lingered as a sort of spy, attending conferences where speakers took turns denouncing liberalism, secularism, feminism, and modernity itself—until, in 2024, she became persona non grata. By then something had happened to the sober, pious minds of the new right. That something was Trump.
Beginning with his election in 2016, anti-liberal intellectuals made a Faustian bet that this coarse real-estate developer and reality-TV star would be the vehicle for realizing the Good, the Beautiful, and the True. “Trump was the strongman brought to bring liberalism to heel,” Field writes. But in attaching themselves to MAGA, they did less to influence the new regime than Trump did to corrupt them. Field shows, for example, how the Claremont Institute became a nest of conspiracy theorists and election denialists, with one of their own Straussians—the constitutional scholar John Eastman—providing Trump with a bogus legal justification for overturning the 2020 presidential election. Or take Deneen, a serious philosophical mind whose widely influential 2018 book, Why Liberalism Failed, was a kind of 95 theses nailed to the front door of the Enlightenment. “Whereas in 2012, in addition to disdain and skepticism, Deneen showed some sensitivity to the attractions of elite modern urban life,” Field writes, “ten years later he was naming the American elite ‘one of the worst of its kind produced in history,’ calling to ‘replace’ them, and advocating for ‘regime change.’”
Subverting the establishment is a lot more thrilling than defending it. Many of those who trade in ideas that overturn the status quo are drawn to power and have a particular weakness for extremism. Whether the likes of Steve Bannon, Michael Anton, Stephen Miller, and Tucker Carlson are driven by conviction, opportunism, personal grievance, or some combination of these motives is never easy to say. What’s clear is that MAGA ideologues—including the prize recruit to the anti-liberal right, J. D. Vance—have entered a downward spiral of ever cruder language and thought, usually with notes of bigotry and xenophobia, and sometimes blatant ugliness, as if to show their bona fides. They’ve abandoned tradition for radicalism, careful scholarship for vulgar discourse, reason for the irrational, universal truths for narrow identities, and philosophy for partisanship.

A few obscure figures—I wasn’t familiar with the name Julius Krein—recoiled and withdrew from the magnetic sphere around Trump. Others, such as Rod Dreher, have very recently begun to voice concern over the hateful trajectory of the American right. But reading Field, you can see something like the current wave of MAGA anti-Semitism coming from a long way off. ‘Barbaric’
Two cases in the last three months illustrate the moral inversion of law and order that Democrats have instituted under the cover of COVID and the anti-cop George Floyd protests of 2020.
Bethany MaGee, 26, was severely burned on her face and body when she was doused in gasoline and set on fire on Chicago’s L train last week in a what authorities have called a “barbaric and premeditated” attack by a repeat felon who had 72 arrests on his rap sheet, including aggravated arson and multiple felony battery convictions.
The suspect, Lawrence Reed, 50, reportedly yelled, “Burn alive, bitch!” as he set MaGee alight.
Reed had been deemed too dangerous to stay in the locked psychiatric wing of a Chicago hospital where he allegedly attacked a social worker and knocked her unconscious, causing a severe concussion, an eye injury and a broken tooth.
So Cook County Judge Teresa Molina-Gonzalez let him out on the streets in August with an ankle monitor, trusting him to abide by the curfew she set.
Of course he didn’t.
According to court transcripts obtained by Chicago crime website CWBChicago, the prosecutor objected to releasing Reed, warning that electronic monitoring would not protect “the [social worker] victim or the community from another vicious, random, and spontaneous attack.”
But Molina-Gonzalez blithely replied: “I can’t keep everybody in jail because the state’s attorney wants me to.”
According to CWBChicago, at the time he allegedly set MaGee ablaze, Reed had already violated his curfew for 12 hours — with impunity, as he had done multiple times previously.
Now he’s been charged with terrorism offenses, but it’s too late for MaGee.
An animal lover and churchgoer, she is from a close family in small-town Indiana who have requested privacy while she remains gravely ill in the hospital. Her social media posts show a young, pretty woman with long, sun-kissed hair, cuddling a cat, and smiling in family photos alongside her two brothers.
Her life will never be the same.
The attack comes just three months after a similar unprovoked murder on public transit in Charlotte, NC, when a violent repeat felon slashed the throat of Iryna Zarutska, a 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee on her way home from her job in a pizza shop.
Just like Reed, the suspect, Decarlos Brown Jr., 34, is a career criminal with a long rap sheet, including assault and armed robbery. Like Reed, he has been diagnosed with severe mental illness.
Like Reed, he was treated with kid gloves by a Democrat-controlled legal system determined to make up for past injustices against blacks by applying racial considerations to incarceration.

More than half the country doesn't recognize your gun laws as valid. So what that he had 20 unlicensed guns? He never used any of them until he was defending himself from a thug who had been released countless times before his justified death by Democrat cancer.
They find unlicensed guns on thugs in Blue shithole cities every day and let them right back out on the streets. This is purely a political ruling. Trump should pardon him.

Let me see about another murder mentioned: In January 2025, Decarlos Dejuan Brown Jr. repeatedly called 911 about a "man-made material" inside him that was controlling his body. Brown was charged with misuse of 911 and released without bond. Seven months later, on August 22, 2025, Iryna Zarutska was killed. So, the judge is to blame for releasing a guy who called 911 too many times? 6ixStringJoker, you are nuts if you think the judge is to blame.

To say that he unfortunately didn't have licenses for ALL of them, it means that an undisclosed amount of them were licensed, and an undisclosed amount of them weren't.
