Elections; 2024

Republicans won big in the 2024 election, but the streak might not last long:
. . . A deep dive inside the numbers suggests that while the election results were bad for Democrats, they aren’t quite as awful as they seem.
For starters, it’s important to remember that Democrats were fighting an uphill battle this year. Around the globe, in 2024, every single incumbent party in a developed democracy lost vote share. You know the last time that happened? Never.
Moreover, while President-elect Donald Trump emerged victorious, his margin of victory, 1.6 points, was the fifth-smallest in the last 100 years. As much as the MAGA world wants to portray his victory as a landslide, it wasn’t. . . .
. . . If the last few election cycles tell us anything, political power in America is fleeting. After all, in 2008, Democrats won a governing trifecta … and by 2016, the GOP controlled Congress and the White House. Four years later, the tables were completely turned, and Democrats won back a trifecta … only to lose it to Republicans four years later.
Quite simply, it might not be long before the election postmortems are being written about the GOP.

The U.S. military wrestles with possible deployment on U.S. soil under Trump
Michael Hirsh writes:
The last time an American president deployed the U.S. military domestically under the Insurrection Act — during the deadly Los Angeles riots in 1992 — Douglas Ollivant was there. Ollivant, then a young Army first lieutenant, says things went fairly smoothly because it was somebody else — the cops — doing the head-cracking to restore order, not his 7th Infantry Division. He and his troops didn’t have to detain or shoot at anyone.
“There was real sensitivity about keeping federal troops away from the front lines,” said Ollivant, who was ordered in by President George H.W. Bush as rioters in central-south LA set fire to buildings, assaulted police and bystanders, pelted cars with rocks and smashed store windows in the aftermath of the videotaped police beating of Rodney King, a Black motorist. “They tried to keep us in support roles, backing up the police.”
By the end of six days of rioting, 63 people were dead and 2,383 injured — though reportedly none at the hands of the military.
But some in the U.S. military fear next time could be different. According to nearly a dozen retired officers and current military lawyers, as well as scholars who teach at West Point and Annapolis, an intense if quiet debate is underway inside the U.S. military community about what orders it would be obliged to obey if President-elect Donald Trump decides to follow through on his previous warnings that he might deploy troops against what he deems domestic threats, including political enemies, dissenters and immigrants.

USA Today: The Democratic Party's leadership crisis: 'Don't know' and 'Nobody' outpoll pols

Don’t take my word for it, we polled the question last week. When asked to name the leader of the Democratic Party, nearly half of all registered voters nationally in our Suffolk University/USA TODAY couldn’t name a person or volunteered “Nobody.”
For the record, here is the list of open-ended responses to the question, listing only responses totaling 1% or more in descending order from the Suffolk University/USA TODAY poll of registered voters taken between Jan. 7 and Jan. 11:
Don’t Know: 30%
Nobody: 19%
(Vice President) Kamala Harris: 10%
(Congressman) Hakeem Jeffries: 9%
(Former President) Barack Obama: 8%
(California Governor) Gavin Newsom: 3%
(Former House Speaker) Nancy Pelosi: 3%
(New York Senator) Chuck Schumer: 3%
(President) Joe Biden: 2%
(New York Congresswoman) Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: 2%
(Investor and philanthropist) George Soros: 1%
(Vermont Senator) Bernie Sanders: 1%
(Transportation Secretary) Pete Buttigieg: 1%
(Pennsylvania Senator) John Fetterman: 1%
You're fucked.
That's a who's who list of the biggest fucking losers in the country. Not one of them are capable of being President, and some of them aren't even qualified. George Soros? Really? How fucking dumb are Democrat voters anyway?
You have nobody. You have no bench, and your starters all suck.
And your worst problem is that every American knows every name on that list, and they hate the people on that list.
The Democrat party is finished.

Another good prediction. This one about Alan Licthman failing and how he ruined his reputation and his keys system to score points with Leftist retards like Ted and Second.
(SEE ALSO: Everything that Ted and Second have ever said is wrong).

Lichtman did not properly hand out those keys this year. The "True" for both "Strong short-term economy" and "Strong long-term economy" are just downright laughable, but are hardly the only keys that were misappropriated by Lichtman in 2024. Giving Harris the key for "No Primary Contest" is just dubious, given the events of the last several months. There was a primary, and Harris wasn't even in it.
I agree. I think his attempt to predict the outcome based on large scale objective factors, and not horse races of subjective opinions, is admirable and should be developed.
So about a month ago, I listened to a description of how those keys were awarded and I was shocked at how distorted the process was. GIGO. I wondered what would break first: the system, if objectively applied (Trump win), or his (IMHO) obviously biased application.

More on Ted's bullshit Iowa Poll right before the election, while I was gloating to him about his loss, before he disappeared for 3 weeks and we all assumed he killed himself.

According to the NYT right now, with 92% of the vote counted, Harris is only at 53% and Trump is at 45%.
2,770,451 votes for Harris / 2,351,499 votes for Trump.
Only 8 points in Illinois? You knuckleheads damn near turned Illinois into a battleground state this year. Remember when the Des Moines Iowa Register told you that Harris was going to win Iowa by 3 points last week and I laughed at you for even posting that here? Yeah... Trump won Iowa by 14 points.
Trump severely over-performed and at the same time Harris severely under-performed.
Maybe you should ask your Media why they keep lying to you all the time.

Is the Lincoln Project dead now too, idiot, or did they just try to scrub all the evidence of the lies they told you leading up to the election?
Serious question. I don't watch CLICKBAIT SHIT and you're the Resident Expert on ingesting it in these parts with well over a decade of experience under your extremely tight belt. Yanno, because you're a fat fucker piece of shit on top of all your other seemingly endless shortcomings as a man.
