I'm right 80 to 90% of the time about it for sure, but in this instance I did say that what we were likely looking at with Ted's push poll at the time showing a virtual tie or maybe even stupidly claiming that the Democrat was even in front at one point was just another 2024 Iowa State Push Poll situation, created completely from somebody's own imagination.
Republicans won, handily, but anything less than that would have been something for Republicans to panic about. And I would argue that there is a reason that it wasn't closer, and it isn't because Trump is doing anything he says he's going to do.
It is because the Republicans FINALLY did what they need to be doing in all of these special elections, especially when they aren't in seats that are automatic gimmies either way and/or they think they could actually eek a win out where maybe they shouldn't... and what they did here was SPEND, SPEND, SPEND.
The entire expenditure on this campaign was over $7 Million ($10 Million if you include the primary election spending). An EXTREMELY large portion of this money from both sides didn't come from individuals inside of the state either. Most of the money was from Super PACs on both sides.
That is awful and should be illegal. The only people who should be allowed to spend money on campaigns in individual states are people who LIVE AS THEIR PRIMARY RESIDENCE EXCLUSIVELY in that state. No different than the only people who should be able to contribute to foreign elections should be Citizens. This includes businesses too. They want to be considered as individuals when it comes to freedom of speech, they're individuals here too. No corporation that is large enough to have any bases, warehouses or office space outside of the state should be allowed to contribute to a state campaign either.
Now... Republicans seemed to get away without spending all that much compared to Democrats, with only $2.4 Million counted up on their side out of that $7 Million figure, but they didn't ignore it. Trump certainly didn't. $1.2 Million of that $2.2 Million was from Trump's very own MAGA Inc. PAC. $600k came from "Conservatives For American Excellence". And I don't argue that any of that Republican money was wasted. At the end of the day, even after spending $2.4 Million, they only had a 9% win where Trump won by 22%.
I'm not saying that this means anything for how good or bad Trump is doing, like the Left is trying to do today. What I am saying is that this just bolsters my analysis that Democrats always win special and off-year elections. The have the entire apparatus to get the word out, and mostly just through the elementary school systems, TBH.
I'm just glad that somebody in the Republican Party seemed to be aware that this could be a problem and decided to throw some money at it to keep anything stupid from happening there. They only spent about half of what the Democrats spent. Spending more could have given them a higher percentage, but there's zero ROI for doing that other than denying the Lefty media from having a few days of headlines that make idiots happy. Things that will be long forgotten about by the time Next November rolls around.
And those are the only two Republican PACs I know about. $1.8 Million of the campaign money Republicans spent for this win out of the $2.4 Million total they spent came from

Her reasoning is sound. Why bother wasting all that time and money on such a fruitless endeavor.
New York is fucked, at least for now. Mandami is liable to blow the whole state up with his bullshit and she or somebody like her would have a much better shot next time.
Just as I don't envy anybody being charged with fixing California and Illinois once they get these anti-American democrats out of office, I'd hate to be the one trying to fix NY 4 years from now.
