First, THGR, your link doesn't work. This isn't your first screwed up msn link. You should test them before you post them.
Secondly, the article isn't a global indictment of Trump from the national Chamber of Commerce or something. It's about a business, a single business that manufactures compressors, that didn't get an anticipated Federal grant. That will curtail expansion plans.
Now, I will be the first to say that the purpose of tariffs is to put American manufacturers on a cost- equivalent basis. But so far it hasn't happened.
One reason that comes up over and over again why manufacturing hasn't moved back to the USA is NOT cheap labor, it's production technology. Another that comes up occasionally is China's port and rail system. Business and government need to make significant investment in the USA, like China did, if they want to reindustrialize. Corporate arms have to be twisted pretty hard before they make the necessary investment.

But many previously inconceivable possibilities are now quite conceivable given the Trump administration’s radicalism. Runaway inflation hidden by rigged official statistics? Expropriation of the reserves of governments Trump doesn’t like? Forced conversion of foreign assets into 100-year bonds? Given the administration’s record so far, how confident are you that none of these things could possibly happen?
As I said at the top of this piece, I normally pay don’t pay much attention to gold, which doesn’t play an important role in the modern economy. But I believe that the recent runup in gold prices is telling us something — namely, that the world is losing faith in America.
And perhaps Ken Griffin’s warnings are also telling us that even ultra-rich hedge fund titans are starting to worry about the monster they helped create.

If the world economy goes down the shit tubes, the people who are currently holding the gold are going to keep that gold and it ain't going to make one lick of difference how much gold your fake portfolio says you've got in there.
You might as well be pissing your money away on Bitcoin before somebody yanks the rug out from under you.
And if you have actual gold in your hands, good luck keeping it once somebody else knows you've got some. You won't ever be able to spend it anywhere without putting yourself and anybody you live with in danger.
In other words, the only reason gold has any value at all is because we have a Society and a (more or less) Working Economy. If any of the reasons that the doom and gloomers say is the reason they're hoarding gold comes true, it ain't worth shit anymore. At least not to you it ain't. I know you like to pretend that you're one of the Elites, but you ain't a part of that club. Even if everything you say about your wealth is true, you've only got a few more bucks in your pocket than somebody like me does compared to them, and they don't give any more a fuck about you than they do me. They'll take it right away from you like they did from Americans in the 30's.
