Favourite STUNT in Firefly?

well Somnambulist, I grew up making super-8 movies with my pals in NY and NJ and while my life veered toward the more normal professionally, one of my friends went to Hollywood to become a stuntman and stunt co-ordinator. He would keep me in mind for stuff he was working on on the east coast, like Toxie 4.
( I'm the ONLY guy hurled over a wall in a 4 way split screen during a big fight scene, also I'm the policeman in a saturn chasing a green car, and the pedestrian who jumps out of the way of both vehicles, oh, and a nazi in the background in one scene). I also had a good fight scene in "Knight of Swords" (good luck finding THAT one).
And here's the kicker: my friend worked for the last few seasons on Buffy!!Any time you saw Sarah toss a really big baddie through the air into something chances are it was him.
uh-oh, rievers, gotta go.

Can I just say I'm utterly impressed :) Seriously I'm on the look out for Toxic 4 and Kinght of Sword.
I think it's so ace you being; not in just a film but actually doing stunts on them! To be honest I'm more impressed by that than I am with acting.
My ex grilfriends dad was a director of photography and a few times we'd go off to Pinewood to watch him work. Man he worked hard. On one day they were setting up a stunt, where a car had to go throught a big window, and my ex girlfriends dad had to be in the car with the stuntman to do the point of view shot! Anyway while the actors we're busy being fussed over the stuntman and my ex's dad were meticulously working out the shot and stunt, and nobody got them tea, or coffee, or anything else they desired... No they worked really hard.
Then they did the stunt and had to be there all day even after the actors had gone for stand in duties etc.
No seriously nice going. Hey, you get anymore work lemme know OK.
I'm fascinated by stunt work - as I said when I was a kid I had serious aspirations about doing stunt work. Never happened of course but the residual fascination is still with me.

actually I've been into martial arts since Bruce, so my interest in stunts has always been fights, but here's an interesting note: in Toxie 4 when the car I'm chasing crashes through a big fence- it was a real fence in Poughkeepsie (spelling?) NY that no one could see from the street, so the guys behind the camers said " hey, could you just drive through it?" - of course we were game, so we did it for real and the gate went over the first car and looked like it was gonna hit my vehicle! But it missed my windshield by a good 6-7 feet.Man, it was fun. They paid me and fed me and put my name in the credits at the end and all I had to do was jump around some and drive like a idiot!!I trully envy people like my friend who can make a living having a blast.
I live in Massachussets now. Where do you reside? uh-oh, Alliance, gotta go.
p.s. the fence was trashed.

Yeah I'm a huge fan of Bruce Lee, not just on the martial arts level but also the way the guy moved!!! His physique was astounding. He glided over the world.
I do Tai Chi but I've had to stop this last year fro various reasons, but I do intend to start again.
I live in England the snowy south east as it goes these days. I have a pretty cool working life I must admit, I'm a freelance cartoonist so I pretty much get to draw everyday, and occasionally I get to do more unusual arty things which is cool, so I don't have the usual nine - five, but I must admit the idea of beng a stuntman...If only. Am I too old at 34 to start ;P
When I was at school and we had the stunt club we used jump out of trees onto trees below. Now I think of it it was a really dangerous thing to do, but fun. I'd love to up the stakes and do car stunts
Oh well this weekend I'm on the hunt for Toxic 4.

34 too old?! That's how old Kirk was when he assumed command of the Enterprise! The stuff you see me do in Toxie 4 were done when I was about 38. Jackie Chan's 50 and still goin' strong.
Looked at your page, your art is cool. Manga influenced, yet moe realistic. My favourite comic growing up was Master of Kung Fu (gee, wonder why), and the penciler for most of it's run is still my favourite artist to this day; Paul Gulacy...ever seen his stuff? He' doing Catwoman, do you get all our comics in the UK? I know you get all the good dvd's before we do!!

Hey true - Jackie is still going strong. It is encouraging to see him so nimble I must admit. Hmmm. And you were throwing yourself around at 38. Interesting. Maybe I should look into this some more. :) I dunno anything about stunt work in England though - I'll have to do some research. Are you still doing stunts by the way?

Cheers for taking a look at the cartoons. Yeah Manga is a huge influence but the real culprit initially was watching Dangermouse, when I was a kid. Dangermouse is coooool. Then it was Asterisk and later Manga. Comic wise I'm not a good example of comic knowledge. I've read some stuff but in all honesty I've always struggled with the interpretation of the human form. It's beautiful no doubt, but I think I've never been able to relate to the styles of the superhero genre - although DareDevil I do like, but that's the narrative as opposed to the illustrations.
That said I am looking forward to 'Sin City'. It looks like a visually more acurate interpretation of the comic format.
So anyway Stunts : Y'know you've piqued my interest I may see whats whats over here. Cheers

Hey guys, I'm a big Chan fan, but I must give you the bad news that he no longer does all of his own stunts and he now uses wires. A lifetime of bone-breaking stunts have taken their toll. He does what he can, but he just can't endure what he used to.

Yeah I saw him say as much on an interview he was giving - It's only natural I suppose. Still he's more nimble than my dad was at 50! I reckon if I get to be half that dextrous when I make a half century I'll be happy.
Ok crunch time -- favourite Jackie Chan movie?
Mine would be Operation Condor I just love that finalé in the wind tunnel so clever.
Oh I did some research about becoming a stuntman in England... and as ever; huge hierarchical climb needed. Much life on the line type stuff before you even get a sniff of obtaining an equity card .
Skills need : Scuba Diving, Parachuting, Martial arts, Gymnastics, Fencing,Horseriding etc... All I got is a win at a go-kart park....

My favorite Chan movie is probably Drunken Master. The fight scene at the end of that film is the most real, most visceral one I can recal from Chan.
