Did James Comey just order a hit on Trump?

From what I've heard, Comey has already said that "he knew it was political, but he didn't know what 86 meant".

Trump is the 47th President.

I saw the Urban Dictionary link for it surprisingly close to the top of the first page on a Google result, when none of the traditional dictionaries seemed to directly say it meant to kill somebody.

Even there, it's got multiple meanings, and killing isn't at the top of them.

But that's how both underground and youth culture work. I'm not too old to remember that. It's why the kids are doing that "Skibidy" shit today. They like being able to talk to each other without their adults knowing exactly what they're talking about. I'm sure if the internet was out when we were kids and young people were all getting together like that back then we'd have practically made our own language too.

For Comey to be a suit wearing, 64 year old white guy and put out a message like that which could resonate with both the young and the criminals but at the same time have complete deniability speaks a lot to his street knowledge. Or at the very least he should be proud of the people on his team who came up with the idea.

I've heard most people talking about this as a threat.

I don't view it that way. I don't think Comey was threatening anything at all.

I think what we just witnessed was one of those fabled Dog Whistles that the Left used to always talk about a few years back. I'm pretty sure he just let everyone know that as far as he (and possibly others) are concerned, they've got the green light.

Would most crazy not-in-the-inner-circle folk like Second know what that meant? Nah. I don't think that was meant for our benefit.

In fact, I don't think it was meant to be up for very long and I don't think he probably was expecting anybody who mattered to actually see it. I was surprised to see he had 130,000 followers on Instagram, but really... When is the last time he's been in the news cycle? Who among normal folk would actually follow his instagram?

Pretty sure this was supposed to be a "hidden in plain sight" thumbs up that somebody was looking out for. Just apparently at least one more somebody than he was hoping had eyes on it.

It would be interesting to know who saw that and alerted the President's people. I wonder if that was somebody on staff or if there are random people like you and I following people like him to look out for things like this. I could see either scenario having played out here.
