That's what SpaceX and private sector is for.
Fuck NASA. They haven't done anything of note since before I was born.
Here's a suggestion for them if they need to raise some money. Start calling up rich people and offering them space flights for a stupid price that only they could pay. You could probably keep funding NASA forever by doing this.
Do it now before Elon beats you to the market and you're boxed out of that as well.

Seems the Shuttle ideas was before you were born, after Apollo they gave Nixon this Spaceplane idea but it was all stuck in low orbit.
I remember I think maybe you told me your age, but I didn't file it away as I don't obsess over people but I've a general idea of your age
The ISS and Hubble are a big big deal, all those peoples and languages working in Space then Hubble descovering new science and the JWST which is re-writing books
I would say the Mars Rovers are up there...but China has started to catch up and does the same now. The grand tour with the Nuclear powered robotic craft 'Voyagers' are a big achievement although planning goes back to the 60s one of them still works and NASA picking up ‘Voyagers faint signals’.
some of the other visits to Asteroids, Jupiter, Saturn have been very interesting but it should be doing more
if you look at what South Korea or Japan can do with their Annual budget then no doubts that NASA should do it better and cheaper
New Zealand can launch things to space and it doesn't even have a true space agency
the mistakes? Shuttle was very ambitious and overly complex
btw Starship also has no 'eject'
Space-X has no experience of driving 'Mars Rovers' and a lot of private missions have failed at the Moon, the Russians have also failed to do what the Soviets did in the 60s and 70s.
then Post ColdWar some people always thought the Russians would be friendly post ColdWar and be part of this happy world trade, space community, happy politics of nations.
Politics is what truly forced NASA to open up, and then Musk slowly starting to win doing successful launches but it political leaders wanting it done cheaper and allowing others to bid from the Private Sector
China has basically caught up with much of what NASA has done, it has even advanced in some areas and there is a risk of NASA losing races of science.

I am not worried at all about China catching up or surpassing us in the space race, as long as we maintain satellite dominance, which is the only thing that's going to matter for at least the next 100 years.
We're a million years from being able to do anything worthwhile with space exploration. There is zero ROI in a space race with China.
So what if they beat us to little bullshit milestones along the way? So what that they've managed to reverse engineer public and private code and they've figured out a way to sell tech at super cheap prices?
That's the thing. We can do that too. Let them take the reins in the space race that's been over for more than half a century now.
Let them piss away all the money on space now. If they figure out anything that's a game changer, we'll just steal it back from them when the time comes.

More than 1,900 scientists write letter in ‘SOS’ over Trump’s attacks on science
The letter comes amid the administration’s relentless assault on US scientific institutions which has included threats to private universities, federal grant cancelations and ideological funding reviews, mass government layoffs, resignations and censorship.

1,900, huh? Wow!
They're doing a lot better than the current Change.org petition begging Disney to bring back Firefly.
https://www.change.org/topic/firefly-en-us
We only got 124 people to sign it when Arrested Development was revived.
https://www.change.org/p/netflix-netflix-bring-back-firefly
You should have seen us back in the day though. We got way more than 1,900 signatures.

A University of Chicago economist says the White House cited his work in calculating the tariffs, and made a math error. To cause them to balance the trade deficit with each country they should be one-fourth the size.
