Happy with Last Night's awards?

oh, and beyonce should DEFINITELY not have been singing those songs. ridiculous. i felt horrible for emmy whats-her-face from phantom of the opera when she had to introduce beyonce singing HER SONG. i mean WTF?! it's not like she couldn't be at the awards--she was there to do the introduction! beyonce is a good pop singer but she doesn't exactly have the voice for that song. i guess the people in charge of the oscars sat down and had a meeting and said, "i think we should have someone less talented than the actual singer perform this song." "good idea! brilliant!" sometimes i hate people.

I didn't watch the awards, but I'm thrilled that Million Dollar Baby won best picture.

Not because I've seen it, because I haven't. But I won 50 bucks! So, rah rah!!

I missed most of the show, though I did get to see Penelope Cruz and SALMA HAYEK present.. Oh my yes.

But upon reading this morning that Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind won Best Original Screenplay, I was happy. Also, I had purchased 20K shares in HSX that had Eternal Sunshine win that award. Woo!

I was only dissapointed that Aviator didn't win more. I'm pretty anti-Leo and that movie was still pretty darn good in my opinion.

It was sort of funny that they couldn't find any other female singers than Beyonce but I thought she did a very good job. Don't understand what all the complaining is about.

The people I watched the awards with already made the joke about awards being in the parking lot by the time Chris Rock told it. That was just mean making the nobodies accept their awards out in the middle of no where.

The other strange thing was the giant sentinels they had at the back of the stage. We were all waiting for them to carry people off stage if they took too long or something.

That was a Simpsons bit! Homer's nightmare was giving a thank you speech that went too long, and the giant statues zorched him with lasers. Now THAT would spice up the show.

I was happy to see Jamie Foxx win Best Actor for "RAY". My wife and I had just watched the movie last week, and he really became Ray Charles! He was so convincing in the role. Jamie's performance introduced a whole generation to the genius that was Ray Charles' music!

It was no surprise that he had nominations in both Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor catagories. He's proving to be a major talent, and he stole Collateral from Tom Cruise. I'm just glad his vote wasn't split between the two nominations, because he really deserved Best Actor.

I would have rather seen Kate Winslet win over Hillary Swank winning a second oscar, but Million Dollar Baby was the higher profile movie, so it wasn't much of a surprise.

Cate Blanchett and Morgan Freeman both deserved their Supporting Actor awards, and I'm happy for them. Morgan is one of the best actors in Hollywood, and Cate was amazing as Kate!

Best Picture and Director should have gone to Martin Scorsese for The Aviator. I love Clint, but Marty is the better director!

The overall show was uninspiring, and I hated the "awards from the isle" idea, but the highlight of the night, had to be the tribute to Johnny Carson. He will be missed!

I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.

It wasn't as much what he said as it was the way he said it and the fact that he said anything at all. It just seemed like a petty shot at someone he (apparently) didn't believe had any place hosting the Oscars. He came off as very condescending - he's gettin' good at that.
