I need to give 6ixString credit on movie predictions
was thinking maybe 2024 won't be so bad...but it turned out to be one of the worst years yet. Barbie Oppenheimer might have been a freak event.
Growth was slowing 2017 then Covid and 2020 was bad
you need to go back post 911 year 2003 when figures were this bad, but it might be even worse today with issues looming... and at that time no indie movies, gaming, Chinese film, Euro film SKorea shows, Jpan toons were ready to punch the Hollywood glass jaw? also the comicbook cash cow from DC Marvel might have gone the way of the Western as its popularity ends.
this of course could all be proven wrong if somehow Hollywood magically finds 'Billions' of bucks before end of year

But boy... I got Wicked wrong at the end here.
I guess despite the surface level stuff it wasn't a bad movie if you're a woman or a gay guy. There are a lot of women in the country.
I guess anybody who goes back home and watches The Wizard of Oz after watching Wicked has to now ask themselves why the wicked witch decided to have race-affirming "care". Although Oz is a magical land, so if a black woman in Oz decided she wanted to be a white woman she probably just had to click her heels together or something.
Wicked is going to leapfrog all the Chinese moves and be above YOLO soon sometime this weekend.
Hollywood has 3 more weekends in 2024 to release a movie. Does it have two more that can make $480 Million and push the Chinese off the Top 10 list? YOLO will be sitting at 9th between Venom 3 and Wicked.
