The Tule Lake Japanese internment camp, for example, had a capacity of around 18,000. If the Trump administration actually builds the detention camp in Guantanamo, it’ll double in size Auschwitz-Birkenau’s original design and be bigger than Dachau and Treblinka combined.
When Trump claims he needs more beds for detainees, it’s useless to point out that undocumented entries had dropped to one of the lowest levels in recent years by the end of 2024.

Personnel affiliated with Elon Musk have sought access to a highly sensitive Treasury Department payment system. That system, which is maintained by non-political staff, disperses trillions of dollars each year.
Senator Wyden wrote in a new letter: “To put it bluntly, these payment systems simply cannot fail, and any politically-motivated meddling in them risks severe damage to our country and the economy. I am deeply concerned that following the federal grant and loan freeze earlier this week, these officials associated with Musk may have intended to access these payment systems to illegally withhold payments to any number of programs. Crackpot Gen. Mike Flynn searched for grants to any organization with Lutheran in its name and declared them all corrupt. What does he have against Lutherans?
The Lutheran groups provide foster care, group homes, meals, and that sort of thing all over the country. You know, charity and humanitarian services.
So why does Elon say he's "rapidly" shutting down these "illegal payments"? There's nothing illegal about them and DOGE has no authority to stop them anyway. I assume he's just fluffing Flynn, but you never know. Does he really plan to just stop Treasury from writing checks to groups he disapproves of?
