I've been an FFF net member for years (it's nice to say that), but haven't actively posted in near as long, preferring to read the news and hang back. But I'm willing to change...

I'm pretty fresh to Utah, and the wife and I are gigantic Firefly fans. Salt Lake City's a pretty big place -- surely there are other fans needing a communal fix out there?

I just joined the meetup.com group for Salt Lake City fans, but it doesn't look like it's all that active on the surface.

Gimme a yell if you're out there; it's nice, if a little odd, to have found my voice again on here after so long!

Yo! My husband, three sons, and I, are all big Firefly/Joss Whedon fans. Living on the wrong side of I15 in West Valley.

Yo!

on edit: I could say more, I suppose. Welcome to Utah - you get used to it after awhile. :) I wasn't born here myself, but have lived here for 27 of my 37 years, so I guess you could say I'm "from" here.

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond! (Long hours at a screen at work make me loathe to sit at home watching more screens.)

Ree -- Don't worry -- I'm sure we'll be living on the wrong side of I-15, too, as soon as we sell our out-of-state home and find a permanent place here!

So, is there any kind of an active Firefly community in these parts? It seems like a pretty big place and all, but, as I'm finding, Utah is a little bit of an anomaly.

Not as far as I know, although I wouldn't mind it if there was. Colour me seething with jealousy every time there is talk about shindigs and cons.
