I never updated the show when I was finished with it. Shame because I don't really even remember how it ended.

I can say from a longevity standpoint it hasn't stuck that much with me, and I haven't given it very much thought after the fact. The live action or the anime. I'm sure I've forgotten far more about both of them than I remember at this point.

I still like them and would recommend either to a fan of anime and/or sci-fi and/or interested in more indie type stuff made outside of the US.

Neither of these had a lasting impact on me like Pantheon or Dark Matter did. But they're definitely above-average popcorn flick fare. I remember I was "in the moment" while watching both versions of this tale, and I was binge watching the cartoon. I guess maybe, at least for me, it just didn't have much for me to take away from it after the moment ended.

News on Japan's One Piece

The ‘One Piece’ live-action show is staying very true to source with David Dastmalchian’s “Mr. 3”

I remember it finishing on a nice somewhat high and serene moment with a 'chilled' recap on what the whole thing was about...a nice thread follow through the story a chain link of events following one central theme or character, that's how I remember it.

The show kind of finished at the right point but it could also get a S2 like 'Dark Matter' 2024

Parasites fall from outer space, they are powered like a comicbook venom or shape shifting Terminator. They are not friendly they are invasive, terroristic and begin using humans as hosts, killing them while stealing bodies

The main character is a girl working at a store or small shop or cashier at a supermarket living a boring mundane simple life...she is almost killed and raped? she falls where an alien is, the alien supports her and turns her into a killer. Now 'superpowered'? she kills her attacker, but because she was already injured the alien uses up its powers healing her and only half takes over her body, there is a Harvey plot a Jekyll and Hyde, Dual personality theme.

Now there's a 'Cop' murder story, a body found with an almost perfected alien bladed cut, very strange.

Later you find out through a nice old 'Police Detective' the young woman already has 'issues' buried emotions with a traumatic past
the old Cop helped her as a child
life was hard for the girl, she always was fighting issues while being alone, almost abused to despair.
The alien and her together live a new trauma
she enters a very strange coexistence as if she is talking with her own trauma or darkness inside herself, the killer alien inside her starts to have a connection to humanity...she tries to stay under cover while acting as both human or alien depending on the situation, parasites can sense other alien 'parasytes'.
Part of the culture feels of commentary on SKorea seems to mix the difficult work and 'rat race' while also commenting on 'religious' like modern Moonies or Cult references in Korea, the parastye infiltrate a fringe religion group.

There is a psycho woman leading a swat team she wants to eradicate parasites almost no matter the cost, she witnessed a mass murder event.
A mass murder has also happened at a festival which they try to briefly control the 'news' or cover up.
One human might be a traitor even helping the invasion.
Hints are dropped that parasites might not be a hive mind but there might be a powerplay or civil war brewing within the aliens.
The nice Old Cop who originally helped her is eventually killed and becomes infected with a parasite.

it ends very well, if you can not remember you should rewatch

Personally I like fan fiction, I like scifi, I like comics and I think this show was good.
I never really wrote any story but remember its structure from a writers perspective 'The Thread' a link that connects beginning, middle and end.

You are not an old timer, you should remember more of this show.
if you are drink smoking the hemp a lot...then...
lay off the booze and / or weed, its not good for your memory

However if you have watched more than one interpretation or re-vamp, reimagining I can see how that would also confuse.

You have watched an alt reality of Multi-verse of 'Parasyte' stories

I generally avoid Remakes, Revamps, Prequels, Re-imagining and go wit h 'Originals' unless the remake is far better than a mediocre original
...the anime sounds like it was good but the tv show got better reviews.
Remakes don't bother me so much if they improve
in shows, books, comics and movies I find 'Retroactive Continuity' worse than remakes, extremely annoying it destroys 'Canon' for example to say Robin Hood was a Bla

Thanks for the refresher on the show. Yeah. I remember all of that now.

It could have been muddled because I ended up watching the Anime very shortly after I watched the show. The Anime too, was very good. I binge watched it in a few days.

Part of my memory clearing out might just be because I also ingested a LOT of TV at one time after many, many years of not engaging in that behavior. Other than the shows we talked about earlier this year, the only TV shows that I've watched in the last 5 going on 10 years is with my dad and brother when I'm visiting him.

Maybe it was just sensory overload and bits and pieces of the shows kind of melding into one another over time too.

Pantheon and Dark Matter have a lot of crossover. Not so much with Parasyte, although I'm sure you could draw many parallels in storytelling between them all.

They're still around?

I don't know when they started, but they were making Asterix & Obleix games for the original Nintendo in Europe over 30 years ago.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asterix_(1993_video_game)

The NES release looked pretty polished compared to a lot of the library just because of how late it came out. It actually had a planned North America release, but by that time the Super Nintendo was already huge here and they decided to cancel it. There were probably only about 20 more games to officially come out worldwide for the system before the European only version of The Lion King was released in early 1995 as a tie-in to the movie. Lion King was the last official NES title to be released anywhere. The last official American release was Wario's Woods in December of 1994, and it was the only Nintendo game to get an ESRB rating.

Yeah... That's how long ago they were making Asterix & Obleix games... The ESRB rating system hadn't been created yet. They were probably right in the middle of arguing about Night Trap in congress when this game was released in Europe.

But come to think of it... I'm pretty sure there was an Atari 2600 Asterix game too, so it might date back much further than this.

ETA: Yup. Atari 2600 got an Asterix game AND an Obleix game all the way back in 1983.
