Vladimir Putin humiliated as Russian forces flee Syria with locals mocking them
Vladimir Putin has faced further humiliation as his troops were mocked during their hasty retreat from Syria.
Local residents taunted Russian forces as they sped up their withdrawal from the Middle Eastern country following the fall of the Assad regime in Damascus.
In a video clip, a Syrian man was seen waving a shoe in the air towards a Russian convoy, followed by an obscene hand gesture. The act of brandishing a removed shoe is considered a mark of disrespect.

Why are you making this event about me?
Is your ego so fragile that you see everything thru the lens of your apparent grudge match against me? I assure you, THUGR, I barely give you any thought.
The fall of Syria is a tragedy for the people of Syria. As I'm learning more, it appears that Assad fucked up. He trusted his newfound Arab buddies/ western leaning ME monarchies ... Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan et al ... to keep Syria safe.
He REALLY should have taken Kissinger's statement to heart (read below).

Wrong again comrade. You made it about you years ago by always defending these guys at every turn. Even as they dropped Barrel bombs from helicopters on civilians and hospitals. As they gassed women and children. It's why I call you comrade. So, comrade, now that that world is falling apart, why wouldn't we push your face in it?

Most of what you think you know about Assad is wrong. No, he didn't "gas his own people". No. He didn't drop barrel bombs in people.
Was he an ideal President? No. But was he better than the alternative?
Well? Will Syrians be better off under al Qaeda?
Get better sources and screw your head on straight.

a barrell bomb or flying IED costs about 200 bucks, the Soviets used them and the USA used them in Vietnam...it doesnt mean you win a war in a war you might have to fight hard for each tunnel each street and captured town. When ISIS had captured Aleppo it didn't really have an airforce or pilots, that takes a lot of training and infrastructure the film of barrel bombs dropping on Aleppo was most probably Assad backed to route out ISIS and no doubt civilians living under the misery of ISIS also were hit in those big explosions.
but if you use 'cruise missiles' you can spend Billions with each missile costing millions and still not win a war, you can be the biggest military powers and fail...see the Soviets in Afghanistan or the USA 20 year war in Afghanistan.
From what I seen he did drop barrel bombs...he was 'bad' but as dictators go he was ok-ish a lot better than ISIS who wnated to take over Syria
and Assad was a lot better than the current terrorist state broken country shitshow happening right now

I looked rather closely at the accusation at the time. As I recall, there was only one instance, and that was the accusation that Assad forces barrel- bombed a UN food convoy. But the only pictures of the event were of the aftermath: a bunch of severely burned trucks. There was nothing to show what started the fire, and all we had was the terrorists' statement what happened.
Also, barrel bombs as I recall are dropped at low heights from slow flying helicopters. If you have heavily armored helicopters that can fly low and slow over well defended territory, why stick with barrel bombs?
Which brings up the point: what's so special about barrel bombs anyway? How are they worse than conventional bombs, mortars, rockets, and missiles? They all explode and can kill people. We know that bombs of all kinds were used in Syria.
The whole accusation seems senseless. If you want to accuse Assad of atrocities, seems like "barrel bombs" aren't the way to go.

So, thinking on this further, accusing Assad of using (gasp!) barrel bombs on Aleppo would be like accusing Israel of using (gasp!) barrel bombs on Gaza, when they've used so many kinds of bombs, barrel bombs would hardly make any difference. It seems to me that a more legitimate accusation would be that Assad's army was targeting civilians.
At one time, I did try to estimate the number if civilians killed from the numbers available. A widely quoted figure was that 200,000 people were killed. But half of those were combatants, and half of the civilians that were killed were killed by ISIS/ al Qaeda. But that was very early on. I'm going to look into that again.
