Farscape is an Australian show? I thought that most of it was filmed over here in Australia because it was cheaper to make here but that it was still officially a product of foreign(American?/Canadian?) studio corporations.

You got it right. It was filmed in Australia, but it was produced by Henson studios, Hallmark, and the SciFi channel, so it was more of a US/England co-production.

I hate to be a typecast kind of guy, but man... he must be a pretty versatile actor to pull off a serious captain role and make people believe it enough for there to have been such a big Babylon 5 fan base.

B5 was unique, it took on Star Trek when others said it was impossible
most of the cast is dead now including Mira Furlan from 'Lost'
That episode with 'The Knight' in B5 I think its King Arthur but hes know for Logans Run,
Cabaret, Romeo and Juliet, Austin Powers and a bunch of other well know movies
