Not surprised.

What a great show that was. Hope they don't screw season 2 up.

Were you a big Tron fan? I could never get into it.

Hopefully the video games they make for it are better than the old Arcade/Atari ones were. Those games were awful, even for their time.

Maybe it depends on your life where you were born and what kids were on the block or in your urban town and older brothers were in the neighborhood city. I never gave much details but I've a feeling I'm maybe a little older than you but not sure I could also be younger...anyways VHS was a thing and then with computers and playstations everyone got to play new DVDs, you always could sneak into a cinema to watch a horror when young or some person's older brother had a adult thriller. Tron back in its day was a big thing, you had Terminator 2, Jurassic Park they were huge, the record was held by Jurassic Park until Cameron came along with 'Titanic' was the big money maker, The Matrix came out and everyone was talking about AI and virtual reality and Cyberpunk.
but Tron was first like William Gibson's book or Dark City a 1998 film, David Warner who plays the villain is now dead 2022.
I became something of a film buff maybe thanks to other people and 'Tron' was one of those things everyone respected for effort. Tron not really a kids film but some adult themes and AI topics, plus I liked Jeff Bridges and was getting into old Garage sale flea market, yard sale, bootsales of Babylon five (a very underrated show today but slow which had a massive cult following for good reason) the FX for Tron during its time was 'ground breaking' it was one of cinema's earliest films to use extensive computer-generated imagery a new tech CGI it was disqualified in 1982 because the California Academy felt that using computer animation was "cheating".
TRON BANNED FROM AWARDS the magazines told you in film history!
I didn't see Tron from the start in cinema release but like StarWars I got to see it later and I understood why the youth of that time enjoyed it, Tron is a fun movie and its influence on cinema ground breaking and unrewarded...would there be 'the Matrix' without Tron?

its good Tron faded out for a while, it is kind of back underground with a cult following because Hollyweird would destroy it today

I've always pegged you as older than me, but I've done that my whole life. For years I thought Frem had a couple of decades on me and it was only somewhere around the time I sobered up and he disappeared for good that I realized he might actually be younger than me or that we're at least really close in age.

I didn't have any older brothers or even any older cousins even. And we had close to 2 dozen of those. (Conversations like these make you wonder how much different life would be for any of 3 brothers who were the first born, somewhere in the middle and one of the last born in the family, all other things being equal).

I'd peg you at around 5 or so years older than me though, if you were to ask me that question right now.

Well... Playstation came pretty late in my "childhood", so maybe I'm actually a little older than you are? I bought one of those from a friend who said it fell off a truck for $200 in either Junior or Senior year. I was an Atari/Arcade baby and NES was my first big new system upgrade in life. My first CD player was something I earned by selling more crap from a fundraiser than anybody else in the school, and that was 8th grade. I didn't buy my first DVD player until I was 19 and out on my own.

Yeah. I "grew up" while everything you're talking about was happening. I'm just curious now who is older than who. I'm 45.

The funny thing is that Tron just never really played on TV at all when I was growing up. I saw a lot of sci-fi and horror stuff over the years on cable since I was one of the lucky ones who grew up with an old man who was plugged into HBO on day one. I remember recording cool oddball cult classic movies like Dreamscape and Enemy Mine after I figured out how to program the VCR to get movies that played after our bedtime. But somehow Tron was never a part of my life.

My old man is a huge Sci-Fi
