What happened to the SlipstreamBBS?

Can anyone explain to me why the SlipstreamBBS shutdown?

The official story is that it was just no more fun for Lisa and Christian (the admins and hosts) to run the community for a bunch of people who didn't like the way they were running it.

In fact, the board was hacked, and the questionable actions of the moderators and the admins were exposed to the membership, causing an outcry, and subsequent to THAT the board was shut down.

EDITING TO ADD: Most of the regular posters at SSBBS have reassembed at one of two sites: Slipstream Underground ( http://pub98.ezboard.com/bslipstreambbs12353) , or Ex Isle ( http://www.exisle.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?s=aee3384b1148e33f360f0ba2
b5d8b1bc;act=SC;c=1)... including the old moderators at SSBBS - the good will between moderators and other fans having been mostly restored...

And another post script - not all of the moderators were "guilty" of wrongdoing (if guilty is the right word...). Just want to ensure that I don't spread too wide a blanket...

hmm.. this is all news to me. I stopped "slipstreamin'" a long time ago, because at least for me, the board kind of died. Maybe it was because the show went downhill, maybe the site just got too big, and maybe it was because too many people just left or changed. I don't know.
