Voyager used to be on tv a lot back in the day

I attempted it once. You're not wrong.

I watched all of the very uneven movies first. Then I watched the entire run of Deep Space 9. That was probably my problem. I know most people probably wouldn't agree with me, but of all the Trek I've ever watched I consider DS9 the best Star Trek. It just had the best characters and stories.

I made it a few seasons into Voyager and got bored. Made it a few seasons into Enterprise and got bored. I don't think I got past season one of TNG. I didn't even bother with the original because, come on man... I'm not watching a high school play. I know it was revolutionary for the time, but I just can't.

These really aren't binging shows unless you're a die hard fan. They weren't designed to be. They were made long before binging shows was even a thing people did.

I think the episodic nature and lack therof is one of the big reasons that I preferred DS9 to everything else. While it still maintained much of the structure of all the other series, it also had quite a lot of overarching narratives taking place, even from day one. You still had the goofy one-off episodes in between, even as the stakes were getting higher, and I always appreciate those episodes.

I think I probably could have made it all the way through Enterprise without any problems if it hadn't been the last series I tried. At that point I had already had the entire run of DS9, several seasons of a few other shows and all 12 or so movies still digesting and I was just burnt out on Trek is all. I could probably watch TNG as well and maybe even Voyager, but I think I'd have to find a list of must-watch episodes for the first few seasons and skip the rest of them until the big overarching narratives really start taking shape to ever finish them.

I was actually disappointed that I couldn't get into Voyager. To this day it's my old man's favorite Trek and one of his favorite series of all time (he has yet to watch DS9 though). It was the only Trek show I actually watched from week to week starting the day it premiered. But I was in high school and quickly lost interest in that maybe midway through season 2. I thought for sure I'd love it enough to get through it but I yawned.

Outside of the too long Trek and StarWars universes

They are still doing 'The Walking Dead' spin offs, the show that is too long to binge and refuses to die

Farscape...maybe too long to 'Bing'
