For All Rolplayers - Check Out GURPS 4th Ed (For Firefly Campaigns)

I've been playing GURPS 3rd edition for a few years now and I found that it's the best multipurpose system out there for roleplaying (it not called Generic Universal RolePlaying System for nothing). The new 4th edition rulebooks are out and have streamlined the system and added many new tweaks to the system. Steve Jackson Games (publishers of GURPS) comes out with supplements for ever conceivable campaign and will certainly update all their future and space supplements in the months ahead. For now though, you can easily adapt 3rd edition GURPS supplements to fit with the 4th Edition system.

Appropriate supplements for Firefly campaigns would be GURPS Space & GURPS Ultratech & Ultratech 2 (there are many more, but I can't think of them). Check out http://www.sjgames.com/gurps/books/ for more info.

I've always hated the way that d20 systems emphasize combat over all else. GURPS doesn't and it makes for wonderful roleplaying filled sessions.

Actually the game system does not make the GM and the players play the game a certain way. you can run a political intrigue d20 and a hack&slash GURPS. I've seen both.

I personally use Traveller t20 to run a very RP focused campaign. The t20 system has all the bits I need to run a RP focused campaign.

Totally correct, and thanks for being nice about it. After playing many different systems for 10 years, my buddies ganged up on me to switch to GURPS, and I never looked back. A system is all in how you use it, and the d20 system certainly allows for good roleplaying; but GURPS is the only game I play.
